The Cold Surgeon's Contract Bride novel Chapter 126

"Heh, we're both Ferris's interns, but he never gives me any opportunities. He saves them all for his precious junior!" Curtis glared at Zoey again, his voice dripping with resentment. "She's made way more mistakes than I have, yet Ferris still gave her the spot for the Skye City conference! Why? Just because she's pretty? Because she acts cute?"

Zoey's eyes instantly turned red. She said pitifully, "You could have just asked for it. I never wanted to fight you for the spot. Besides, that was a department decision, not Dr. Sterling's."

"Shut up!" Enraged, Curtis raised his voice, screaming hysterically, "You say it was a department decision, but they just did whatever that hypocrite Ferris wanted! What, just because I'm from a rural town, because I don't have a powerful background, because I don't follow him around calling him 'Ferris' all day, you get to rob me of my chance to succeed? Bullshit!"

Curtis was completely out of control.

At that moment, Dr. Yates spoke up. "Dr. Chambers, I can understand your frustration, but what does this have to do with Dr. Hayes from our department? What exactly did she do wrong to make you write an anonymous letter to destroy her?"

At the mention of me, the hysterical Curtis suddenly quieted down. He glanced at me and muttered, "I accidentally heard someone say she and Zoey didn't get along, so I figured..."

He trailed off, but it perfectly matched Ferris's earlier guess—he reported me to drive a wedge between Zoey and me.

"Dr. Chambers, if you had issues with your supervisor, you could have taken it up with the administration. Why resort to something so extreme?"

It was The Iron Mask who spoke.

As soon as he finished, Curtis grew agitated again. "Take it up with them? What would that do? Isn't Ferris the poster child of Capital General? Would you punish him just because of a few words from me? Hah, I'm not that naive!"

He looked up at the ceiling, then scanned the room, his voice dropping into a dark, defeated tone. "Since things have come to this, I don't have the face to return to my hometown anyway. I might as well end it all right here!"
