The Cold Surgeon's Contract Bride novel Chapter 88

Seeing us approach, Professor Rhodes smiled warmly. "Dr. Yates, your tolerance for alcohol is as impressive as ever."

Dr. Yates waved it off modestly. "I can't compete with how I was a decade ago. This era belongs to you young folks."

"Did you hear that, Caspian?" Professor Rhodes glanced at the man beside him. "Based on that alone, you should raise a glass to Dr. Yates."

Caspian, who had remained silent until now, offered Dr. Yates a subtle nod and lowered his glass for a toast, but Dr. Yates quickly stopped him.

"Forget the toast. I actually have a small favor to ask."

Professor Rhodes looked intrigued. "Oh? The legendary Dr. Yates needs a favor?"

"Selena," Dr. Yates called me forward, introducing me. "This young lady from our department was absolutely blown away by Dr. Cross's presentation today. But she's young and a bit shy, so she was too embarrassed to ask you for guidance herself."

They say conversation is an art, and Dr. Yates's smooth introduction was a masterclass. Right on cue, Professor Rhodes teased, "Impressive, Caspian. One speech and you've already secured yourself a fangirl."

The stoic man shifted his gaze toward me upon hearing the joke. Being polite, I immediately offered a respectful greeting.

"How about this, Ronald. Let's leave the two young folks to chat," Dr. Yates chuckled. "We can go catch up on our own."

I was just about to object, but Professor Rhodes and Dr. Yates had already turned and walked away.

Leaving Caspian and me standing there in awkward silence.

Dr. Cross clearly wasn't much of a talker, so after a brief pause, I explained, "Please don't misunderstand, Dr. Cross. I'm just incredibly fascinated by the data you showcased during your presentation."

As soon as the words left my mouth, I felt I had misstepped.

Since I was the one asking for a favor, being this blunt felt completely devoid of Capital General's usual tact.

A wave of embarrassment washed over me. Seeing that Caspian hadn't replied, I quickly added, "What I mean is, I know you must have poured an immense amount of effort into compiling those clinical statistics. If it isn't too much of an imposition, would you be open to sharing that data with us?"

This time, I made sure my tone was earnest and humble.

"I actually have a question I'm quite curious about," Caspian replied, entirely sidestepping my request. "How exactly did Dr. Hayes determine that the infusion rate should be adjusted every thirty seconds during the awake phase?"

I was shocked that Caspian actually remembered my comment from the seminar. Surprised, I explained, "The patient had a previous surgery three years ago. Factoring in the high probability of anesthetic resistance..."

The man raised an eyebrow and pulled his phone out right in front of me. "Dr. Hayes?"
