The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 536

Abacus seemed to somewhat understand, grasping onto Franco's fingers.

His hands were so tiny that just two of Franco's fingers filled his grip completely. He brought them to his mouth, ready to take a bite, but a gentle counter-force pulled his hands away.

Unable to gnaw on the fingers, he tilted his little head back, widening his round eyes and looking up at Franco pitifully.

Franco gently enveloped the boy's soft, chubby hands in his own. "Papa didn't wash his hands. They're dirty."

Channeling his inner worrywart, Galen pointed at Abacus's mouth. "He tried to bite me all day. I had the doctor take a look—he's teething. He just wanted to use your fingers as a chew toy."

With that, Galen grabbed the sterilized teething ring Jackson had bought earlier and shoved it back into Abacus's hands. "Gnaw on that."

Most kids started teething before they hit one year old, but Abacus's fragile health had delayed his development. It wasn't until now, at fifteen months, that his teeth were finally coming in.

Franco watched as Abacus eagerly chewed on the teething ring. Having grown up in an isolation ward, the boy was entirely used to seeing Franco and Petty inconsistently. Because of that, he had no idea what was happening and wasn't throwing a fit looking for her.

That was for the best.

"You seriously sent her away?" Galen still couldn't wrap his head around it. "Who's with her?"

Franco's tone remained completely level. "Hans."

Galen froze.

He had never imagined Franco would willingly send Petty away with his own hands, let alone entrust her to Hans.

Other people might not get it, but he and Franco had grown up together. He wouldn't claim to know Franco better than anyone, but he could definitely beat out ninety-nine percent of the population.

So, he had instantly recognized that the way Franco looked at Hans was the exact way a man looks at a romantic rival.

Putting aside the shocking fact that Hans actually liked Petty—the esteemed second son of The Green Family, the hottest young A-lister in the entertainment industry, pretending to be gay just to hide his feelings for her—he had to admit Hans was the safest choice out of everyone available.
