The Luna Queen's Rebirth (Ellie and Dominic) novel Chapter 441

Chapter 441

Ellie’s POV

Pain tore me out of sleep so fast I didn’t have time to understand what had happened before I was already sitting up, gasping, clutching at my chest as a cold sweat coated my back.

For a second I thought someone had stabbed me. My fingers ripped aside my nightgown, feeling for blood, but there was nothing there.Just my own heart thudding wildly against my ribs.

The room was dark and quiet, nothing out of place, no sign of what had woken me so violently, no assassin hiding in the shadows-and still the pain kept coming in waves.

I took a breath, calming myself.

“Just a nightmare,” I whispered.

But it didn’t fade the way a nightmare was supposed to. The pain only got worse, my wolf whining in the back of my head. I felt her there, curled up, head tucked away, ears pinned flat.

Something was wrong.

I threw the blankets off and swung my legs out of bed, the floor freezing under my bare feet, and barely felt it. I stood there a second, one hand braced against the wall as the room spun around me, before I pulled the sweater off the back of the chair and yanked it over my head, then made my way over to the kitchen area and flipped on the light over the stove.

My hands shook almost violently as I filled the kettle, making water slosh out of the top. I told myself it was a bad dream still hanging on, even though I didn’t recall having one at all.

I dug the chamomile out of the cupboard, the same blend I gave patients who couldn’t sleep, and measured out a spoonful with fingers that kept fumbling the spoon. The kettle screamed. I poured the water, let it steep, and stood at the counter waiting.

My wolf was pacing now, snarling.

“What’s going on?” I said out loud. I pressed my hand to my sternum and rubbed, as if that would ease the pain.

It didn’t.

“Something’s being taken.The bond…”

I froze.

“The bond.”
