The Luna Queen's Rebirth (Ellie and Dominic) novel Chapter 462

Chapter 462

Ellie’s POV

Dominic’s arm was a heavy, comfortable weight across my waist, his breathing slow and even against the back of my neck, and the bond hummed between us, quiet and whole. As consciousness drifted back in, I laid still for a long moment and just let myself feel it.

It was strange, feeling that bond in place. It had been there before, a mark born of necessity, but this… this was different. There were no walls between us, nothing to protect his thoughts from mine or vice versa.

I could feel everything. All of him. And he wasn’t holding back.

I twisted around to look at his neck. My mark had already begun to silver at the edges. Underneath it, Vivian’s had faded to a shadow.

“You’re staring,” he murmured without opening his eyes.

My face heated. Dominic’s mouth curved, and he pulled me closer.

The knock on the door came just as he was settling himself over me, his member already warm and ready against my thigh, heat pooling in my low belly.

I groaned, throwing my arm over my face. “Yes?” I called out.

“Dad wants you at the meeting house at ten,” Nico’s voice called through the wood. A pause, and I could practically hear the grin spreading across his face. “Both of you.”

Wonderful. So the whole village knew.

My father was waiting in the back room of the meeting house when we arrived, and he wasn’t alone. The Beta sat across from him, and beside the Beta, his wife, her hand curled around the locket at her throat. Neither of them looked like they’d slept. I couldn’t exactly blame them.

The Beta stood the moment we entered.

“Alpha Dominic. Ellie.” He bowed his head. “There is no apology that covers what was done to you both. But you’ll have it anyway. From my whole family.”

“We brought her into our home,” his wife said quietly. She was looking at the table with a haunted look on her face, thumb brushing over the locket. “We gave her our daughter’s room. Her clothes fit. I used to think that was a blessing.” She shook her head and said nothing more.

My chest ached for her. It wasn’t their fault that they’d fallen for Vivian’s trickery. A lot of people had. Vivian knew exactly what she was doing when she specifically preyed on a grieving couple whose daughter she resembled.

“You took in a wounded stranger,” my father said, clearing his throat. “That’s not a crime in this pack, and it never will be. The fault belongs to the one who did the wounding.” He glanced at the Beta. “And we’ll speak no more of resignations. I already told you no once this morning, and my answer isn’t improving with repetition.”

The Beta’s jaw worked, but he sat back down.
