The Lycan's Forbidden Mate novel Chapter 14

Kapitel 14: Me and me alone

The carriage pulled up in front of the imperial castle, which loomed large and intimidatingly, looking unsettling even though there were lights twinkling from every angle. In addition to laughter and the voices of the many individuals there, music could be heard echoing throughout the entire castle.

Ophelia’s heart began to race, and her palm became sweaty, most likely because she was braiding her hair at the time.

She sighed, pushed her braided hair back, and moved closer to the door, only for it to suddenly open and let her see the incredibly attractive demon standing there, his calculating eyes fixed on her.

He reached out his hand to help her out of the carriage because she was already flawlessly clothed, but she completely disregarded him and went out on her own before donning the golden mask.

He muttered, “Of course,” with his eyes enlarging in a clearly angered manner, and he dropped his arm, putting his hand in his pocket. The princess was exorbitantly haughty and excruciatingly self-assured. Even though the dagger’s earlier wound on his shoulder had healed, it still hurt as if the blade were lodged there.

The dress Ophelia was wearing left her breathless. It was among the most exquisite pieces she had ever seen. It was a stunning thick black garment with delicate golden chains that felt loose but hugged her small, voluptuous shape.

The garment was secured to her chest by a self-made golden necklace with a ruby-colored stone in the middle that was wrapped around her. This created a cleavage that revealed some of her middle and side breasts. Her tiny waist was wrapped in three golden chains, which lead to her bare back, which was supported by her contours. The golden chains were draped across her arms and dangling loosely behind her. The dress had openings at the sides by her legs, revealing her thighs.

She felt like she was wearing a napkin, therefore it was only natural that everyone would be staring at her. The gown was too extravagant. It was unlike anything she had ever seen and it was the perfect fit.

She was happy to have brought golden heels, which complemented her mask well.

She gritted her teeth, “Claudius..” she trailed off, wondering where he had seen a dress that fit her wonderfully in “short notice.”

Ophelia snorted. “Why do I think that obnoxious dog has a hand in this dress?” She glared angrily at the demon as soon as she turned her head. There was a stench of something fishy going on all around her.

She glanced away after he didn’t answer, expecting to see the coachman at the front of the carriage, but he wasn’t there.

“He’s dead,” Rhaziel stated plainly.

Ophelia’s eyes changed into their golden reptilian appearance. “You murdered him?” Her tone was aggressive and menacing.

“I told you that his life was useless.” Rhaziel muttered.

“Yours also.” Ophelia snarled, drew in a big breath, and closed her eyes. There was no need to lash out. Certainly not at that precise moment.

Guards suddenly surrounded Ophelia, baring their teeth at her and roaring menacingly like the beasts they were. She remained motionless in place.

They had gotten her scent. Scent of a dragon. A golden royal dragon. A golden dragon of pure royal blood.

She thought them disgusting.

Her eyes shot open and grew furiously piercing at them. “I believed you had told me you were here to escort me to prevent being killed.” She casually informed the demon.

Rhaziel laughed incredulously. Who was he? A butler? “Keep your distance from her; she’s a guest.” The guards all turned to look at him in shock after hearing what he said to them, then they started to back away from Ophelia.

She mockingly turned to Rhaziel and murmured, “Thank you.” before turning her attention to the massive castle in front of her.

Her golden eyes glistened, reflecting the lights that sparkled throughout the palace. It was enormous, pouring the power it possessed as the home of strong beings.

“Are you going to just stand there?” The masquerade ball began two hours ago.” Rhaziel spoke, jolting her out of her reverie, and approached her, standing by her side.
