The Lycan's Forbidden Mate novel Chapter 15

Kapitel 15: A different kind of dance

The ballroom was filled with stunned gasps and murmurs, and Nikolai’s crimson eyes was blazing with anger that everyone in attendance could feel. When he turned to look at Ophelia, he noticed that her glowing pink lips were parted in surprise eliciting an imperceptible smile that stretched on his lips.

More than he had ever expected, the dress was fitting her like a glove. She appeared to be a deity who had split the world in two only for him. She was a tiny little thing, but she was stunning and simply too lovely to describe.

He restrained himself from staring at her in front of the guests who were demanding to tear her to pieces.

Right from the moment she arrived onto the castle grounds, in the midst of the heart beats of the numerous people present, Nikolai caught hers as the fastest beating heart and the most distinctive. She didn’t just differ because she was a dragon; rather, it was the only way he had to find her because he was unable to even get a whiff of her scent.

Was she a scentless being? No, the others immediately recognized her as a dragon since they could smell her from a mile away. This had only one meaning. The only one who couldn’t smell her was him.

It was one thing to be unable to smell her, but when he had earlier caught her wrist, he had experienced a scorching sensation that gave him the impression that he was being electrocuted. He had to instantly release her because it was too much.

The events were becoming much more fascinating than he had anticipated.

As they all resumed their typical behaviors—mumbling and scurrying away—and Nikolai turned his attention back to his guest, the ballroom’s formal atmosphere was restored.

Even though they all resumed their normal behavior, they were all still processing what Nikolai had just told them, and of course, rumors and gossip soon began to circulate.

“Rhaziel, where are my parents?” Indifferent to the slight but noticeable tension in the air, Nikolai asked gently.

“They are on their way.” Rhaziel informed and walked to stand beside Nikolai. “Meanwhile, I will be enjoying the party. I am not your butler.”

Nikolai’s lips widened into a smile that revealed his protruding razor fangs. “But you can be, you are so good at it.” He made a cold teasing remark, and the demon frowned.

Rhaziel growled, “Your guest is here; treat her like your butler.”

Slowly nodding, Nikolai showed off his beautiful face by taking off his mask before donning it on the demon’s face and tapping the him on the shoulder. “Be on guard.” He continued to keep his smile, which got brighter but was much more unsettling because it didn’t even reach his eyes, and he whispered in a terrifyingly menacing manner.

“Of course, your highness.” Rhaziel snorted, arranged the mask over his face, went away, disappearing into the crowd.

Ophelia appeared to be locked in place, her lips were still parted as Nikolai spun on his heels with a fixated glance on her. He lifted his brows as he peered at her and noticed that she wasn’t even blinking.

She had incredibly eye-catching golden eyes that complemented her mask well.
