“Alright,” Nikolai mused. “Enough of this absolutely repugnant kind of affection.”
Ophelia let out a small laugh, and she and Esmeralda parted ways with bright smiles on their faces.
“Why on earth are you in Celestia and following this crazy lycan’s orders?” Esmeralda questioned while casting a detestable glance Nikolai’s way, who had a blank expression. She leaned back in her chair and scowled angrily
at him. “A demon harassed me.”
Ophelia sighed and said, “It’s complicated.”
“And that demon is in the room.” Rhaziel spoke up dully.
Without thinking twice, Esmeralda glared daggers at the standing demon’s unflinching gaze. Nikolai cocked his head to the side and watched the dark fairy glare at everyone but the dragoness. The princess’s exuberant demeanor made it clear why she was known as the kid who constantly got into trouble.
She had infiltrated Celestia, and Nikolai would have killed her for it, but
her parents and all of her people would have declared war on Celestia.
That would not be a good idea, would it? Celestia already had a lot on their plate.
He knew her, but how well? He was a friend from childhood. Old acquaintances who had become estranged.
“Even though you haven’t seen me in three centuries, you keep calling me crazy.” With his eyes ablaze, Nikolai spoke.
“You two are acquainted?” With her eyes wide in surprise, Ophelia

enquired. She turned to see Nikolai once more before turning to face her beloved friend, who was now seated on the chair as though it were a
throne.
“Nikolai Novikov, you have been insane since the moment of your birth.” Nikolai, who grabbed his lower lip between his teeth and then opened his lips so that his fangs were apparent to the eye, received a response from
Esmeralda.
Esmeralda blinked and turned her gaze back to Ophelia. Knowing better
than to irritate Nikolai.
“Yes, we are acquainted.” She sighed in response to Ophelia and then arched an eyebrow at how perplexed Ophelia appeared. “We…”
“Enough with this slurred conversation,” Nikolai abruptly interrupted her and looked ominously in her direction.
Esmeralda tried to hide her glum demeanor. That stare warned her that if she said anything else, he would torture her to death without thinking
twice.
Ophelia recognized Esmeralda’s fake smile and felt something was
seriously wrong. Because of the peace agreements and parties that Fireria and Lumina perpetually had, she and Esmeralda were close childhood
friends.
“I understand you want to know why I am here,” Ophelia hesitantly
nodded as Esmeralda continued.
Esmeralda sighed. “You have probably heard of the moonstone. Since the lycans and werewolves receive their powers from the moon, it has remained in Celestia for the past four hundred years. However, while
though everyone believes that the lycans and werewolves are the rightful owners of the stone, we dark fairies truly own it.”

Ophelia arched an eyebrow. “What?”
“Your father presented it to Alexander as a potent representation of their harmony. How come he wants it returned?” Nikolai asked, without displaying any signs of surprise. He firmly threw his arm around Ophelia’s waist while simultaneously grasping her by the hand.
Esmeralda’s eyes opened at his action, and she noticed right away that something was obviously going on between them because Ophelia just sighed angrily rather than resisting.
“What is happening between you two?” She had to inquire.
When she again locked eyes with Nikolai, his thick crimson eyes had gone black cherry, sending a shiver up her spine. Nikolai was someone she was acquainted with when she was younger. Gods, he was constantly frightful! He had grown so bad that she was aware that if she continued to irritate him, he would kill her without giving a damn if Lumina and Celestia started a war.
“I was abducted by him.” Ophelia deadpanned.
“If you want me to save you, blink twice!” She spoke quickly and in a low, serious tone that caused Ophelia to chuckle.
Her tiny chuckle caused Nikolai’s stare to soften, and he turned to face her to see her real happiness and smile. He yearned to see her in such condition always. Happy.
Esmeralda’s jaw fell. How Nikolai looked at Ophelia! She desperately wanted someone to look at her in that way for a reason!
“Why is this happening?!” She yelled and leaped from her seat. “Are you
two in love?”
Nikolai. “Yes.”

Ophelia. “No!”
Esmeralda. “….
Rhaziel rolled his eyes. “So much drama,” 2
Ophelia’s stomach rumbled loudly at that very moment, and she embarrassedly facepalmed. Hard.
As if made of stone, Nikolai’s eyes hardened. It was time for him to feed his Fire Storm. “I asked you a question.”
“W..we um.. need it, to create the memory stone.” Esmeralda stumbled over her words.
Ophelia’s eyes widened. Nikolai’s visage clouded with irritation.
“I’m sure none of your family members have lost their memories.” His grip on Ophelia’s waist grew more firm.
Since the memory stone wasn’t connected to her in any manner, she bit her lip tightly to prevent herself from speaking. Unless…
“We were dispatched to establish a powerful force of peace by a dragon from Fireria, who I believe to be your father.” Referring to Ophelia, she said.
“Why on earth would he want a memory stone?” Ophelia asked subtly.
Nikolai’s gaze deepened. “It has nothing to do with you or the alleged brewing war.”
“I always follow my gut instincts.” Without glancing at him, Ophelia spoke. “It’s connected in some manner, and I’ll find it out.”
Esmeralda’s eyes were wide, and she hesitated to open her mouth to speak as a harsh growl came from the room’s entrance
Everyone turned to look in that way to observe a tiger–phoenix that

appeared enraged.
He didn’t have any blood on him, which caught Ophelia off guard. He’d committed numerous murders!
“I detest interruptions!” Esmerelda yelled.
Nikolai and Ophelia turned to face her. Nikolai was waiting for her to say something but his eyes were alive and burning. Ophelia seemed somewhat perplexed by Esmeralda’s expression of agitation and rage.
The tiger phoenix and Rhaziel exchanged glances.
“What’s wrong?” Ophelia softly enquired. “Am I connected to it?”
“I don’t know! I’m not sure. We have been buddies since we were little!”
Esmeralda screamed.
“We?” Ophelia was utterly astounded. Although a sizable portion of her recognized where this was leading, the remainder of her didn’t want to comprehend.
“How long ago do you believe you first met Nikolai?” Esmeralda asked while muttering angrily.
Ophelia paused momentarily. Had she previously forgotten anything? Had she known Nikolai when she was a child. “A couple of days ago…”
Esmeralda parted her lips.
“One more word and you won’t be allowed to choose your own death.” With a low growl and deadly eyes, Nikolai let forth.
Esmeralda took a step back and turned her head away in terror.
