“Let her go, Nikolai!”

Nikolai cocked his head to the side, his gaze dangerously fixed on the dark fairy in his powerful hold. He watched as tears welled up in her amber eyes, which brought him nothing but joy. He could snap her neck with a single movement.

“If you kill her, you’ll regret it.” Ophelia mumbled to Nikolai, squeezing her hands and inhaling deeply. She took hesitant steps towards them and noticed Nikolai smirking at the struggling Esmeralda.

Sadistic. She wasn’t surprised.

At her words, Nikolai’s smile faded, but he didn’t look at her. Ophelia was so alarmed by his expressionless face that her clinched fists started to tremble. She didn’t want to think of him staring at her in that manner.

She shouted out, “Nikolai,” once again, and his strange smile reappeared, brighter than ever.

Esmeralda sobbed, her eyes fluttering open, and her efforts waning. She was having trouble breathing. As she grew limp, Nikolai appeared to take pleasure in the situation as his smile grew and his eyes began to whirl like an animated hurricane.

The space’s temperature decreased. Ophelia’s body trembled as she felt completely helpless, afraid, and unsure of what to do.

“If you don’t let her go, I’ll resent you much more than I already do!” She burst out, and at the same moment Nikolai let go of Esmeralda, who fell to the ground and began to furiously and noisily cough in an effort to catch her breath.

Nikolai shifted his attention to Ophelia. When she took a step away from him as he moved closer to her, he paused his steps warily. His brow was stiff and wrinkled.

Ophelia tore her gaze away in the hope that it would calm her, but it only made things worse. Her heart was pounding, her body shivering, and she was in a state of extreme anxiety. She had the impression that a panic attack was imminent.

“Let her go, free.” She succeeded in saying.

“I…”

“Say nothing,” She interrupted him and looked away from him while putting her palm on her chest and then her grumbling stomach.

“Don’t talk to me, please.” She continued and left the room, passing the tiger phoenix that followed after her.

Nikolai’s face darkened.

Rhaziel grinned in response to what he had just witnessed. He felt pity for the dragoness since she had only experienced a little portion of Nikolai’s character. What a shame. Although he was amazed that Nikolai had spared the dark fairy’s life due to a few silly words, he questioned whether Nikolai was regretful.

He made his way over to Nikolai. “She is scared of you.”

“Effortlessly I’m afraid,” Esmeralda was now furiously glaring at Nikolai

when he said and turned to face her.

“You.. reacting like that only proves you are the reason she can’t remember you from our childhood memories,” She snarled, her face drained of emotion and her eyes bloodshot. All things considered, she was close to passing away. She had experienced the edge of death thanks to him.

“Telling her that won’t accomplish anything, right?” With a sly grin, Nikolai questioned. “Back then, we were young. Nothing remains.”

“Why is she in Celestia?” She asked with her teeth clenched.

His eyes lost all warmth. “I own her.”

Those possessive words.

“Your mate?!” Her voice and demeanor were loaded with shock.

“She’s smart,” Rhaziel smiled and addressed.

“Impossible! She cannot be mated to the devil’s incarnate!” Esmerelda yelled.

Nikolai once more felt the impulse to kill her, but he had to restrain himself. He had to get rid of this bothersome creature before feeding Fire Storm. He felt sorry for her because of how she had spent the day— in a tycoon ride.

“You, a blabbermouth, ruined what was supposed to be a civil and non–violent conversation and interrogation,” Nikolai stated sardonically.

“What the hell is going on, I don’t comprehend. I believed Fireria and Celestia were at war.” Esmeralda inquired, her curious eyes widening as she groaningly extended her hands to Rhaziel.

“Help me get up!” She gave a stern order.

Rhaziel’s eyebrows shot upward in mild surprise. Despite having experienced a near–death experience, she continued to babble and be

animated.

He drew her to her feet while lazily grabbing her wrist, and she jerked away, frowning, and started dusting her clothing.

“I’m going to investigate what’s happening, and after that, I’ll rescue

Ophelia from your grasp!” Esmeralda fearlessly made an announcement.

A familial glow white stone was presented to Esmeralda, who gasped, as Nikolai rolled his eyes and pulled it out of his pocket.

“You spent the entire time with the stone?!” She questioned while gently gathering it.

“Go about your business as usual, and I’ll keep on with mine. My goal is to keep Ophelia in my possession for all time, free from issues like you, whereas your objective is to keep this stone for the greedy dragon king of Fireria, who is undoubtedly not obtaining the memory stone for his daughter whom he neglected.”

Esmeralda surprisedly blinked. “And how do you know that?”

Nikolai lost it. “If you ask another question, Ophelia won’t be able to save you this time.”

Esmeralda backed away from him. “Hmph!” Afterward, she put the moonstone in a pocket on her coat.
