Ophelia felt her hands shaking. She was at a loss for words, but what she had witnessed kept replaying in her mind like the recent event it was. She recognized that he was deserving of his label as a psychopath, which he had always been given. Despite the dark aura that wildly sprang from him, he conducted himself without fuss. 1

She stepped out of the darkness of the hallway into the bright hallway.

“Bullshit!” She roared and slammed her hand against the hard wall behind her. The impact of her hand caused a massive crack to appear instantly, followed by a loud thud.

Tainted memories? Moonstone? Memory stone? Her father? Nikolai?! This time, Ophelia screamed angrily, striking the wall with her fist, leaving a large, cracked hole.

Ophelia stared at him with rage but his eyes were on her knuckles which were bloodied and wounded. Those eyes of his. Blood storm. She could see anguish buried in their depths, growing continuously.

“But punching you will!” She spat out and tried to jerk her arm away but his hold was strong.

Nicholas smirked. “In all honesty, it won’t.” Then he let go of her hand.

Ophelia took a step away from him, pressing her back into the wall.

“Let’s have a proper discussion when we return to the castle and get you fed.” Nikolai said, tearing a piece of his coat.

“There’s nothing proper with you.” Ophelia turned her head away from him looking at the tiger phoenix who was staring at her like he was watching a play.

“Do you prefer an improper discussion then?” Nikolai reached out to touch her wrist, she jerked backward and looked back at him.

“What do you have to do with my childhood memories? If I know you, why has no one said anything until Esme?”

Nikolai smiled, staring at the blood dripping out of her knuckles. Her

blood and his dried blood on her hands.

“A question like that is not appropriate here.” He remarked and placed her hand on his, before putting the fabric around her knuckles.

Ophelia sent him a deadly glare. His current actions were sincere but when looked at her, the lack of warmth sent shivers crawling up her spine.

“The temperature has dropped,” He tilted his head to the side.

“Sadistic moron.” Ophelia snarled.

Nikolai scoffed, but said nothing.

Ophelia was growing even more irritated than she was already. She straightened up and jerked her hand away from him.

At that precise moment, Rhaziel emerged from the darkness and approached the scene.

“Danil is present in the tower.” He reported.

Ophelia’s eyes widened.

Nikolai casually said, “I know,” and then he disappeared.

Ophelia stiffened. Was there going to be another fight? She was too hungry to stop Nikolai from doing something insane.

He suddenly appeared in front of her, this time holding the cloak she had earlier draped over his face.

“Here,” he said, offering the cloak to her. “It’s time to feed you before you

devour me.”

Ophelia tsked, “As if,” and took the cloak from him sternly.

She pondered what Nikolai and Rhaziel’s strategy was as she wore the

cloak.

“You will undoubtedly face repercussions for the deaths of the warriors. Meeting Danil head–on is not something I recommend.”

“Wise counsel.” Rhaziel spoke bluntly.

Nikolai’s lips opened into a sinister smirk. “How about we tell him we’re on our honeymoon here?”

Ophelia rolled her eyes. “Are you kidding me right now?”

“I’m not.” Nikolai said and grabbed her hand.

Within a split second, they were standing in front of a bewildered Danil Novikov who was being surrounded by soldiers, among the bodies of savagely slaughtered fighters.

Danil kept his composure, trying to hide any signs of astonishment and awe. He assumed Nikolai and Ophelia were the perpetrators of the warriors‘ dead bodies right away.

“What on earth are you two doing here?” Danil asked firmly while

Nikolai grinned as if Danil had said something amusing. “You’ve arrived

late.”

“And you murdered them.”

Nikolai arched his brow. “So?”

Ophelia looked at Nikolai, her lips parted and twitched in disbelief wondering what was going on in that twisted mind of his.

“I believed you had earlier instructed the Alpha to send me here.” Danil struggled to contain his wrath as he mumbled and shook his head.

“But despite that, you came here and used this… Dragon to murder all the guarding warriors.” Calling the word “dragon.” With dislike, he sheathed his sword and pointed it squarely at Ophelia.

Nikolai’s face darkened, and his smile disappeared.

Having had enough of the drama, Ophelia sighed deeply. She really wanted to eat and take a long nap right now, but Nikolai had brought her to see his cousin as part of his own cunning scheme.
