The Lycan's Forbidden Mate novel Chapter 39

39 Locked

Dawn. 1

The brisk wind in the imperial capital city was absolutely spinechilling despite the nowbrightened sky, which indicated daytime. The city was always as lively at night as it was during the day, although major events took place primarily at night.

In the extravagant throne room of the imperial castle, Alpha Alexander was seated on his throne looking enraged. His palm rested against his creased forehead. He had his claws out, expressing his desire to slice someone brutally, and that person was none other than his son.

With a tranquil demeanor, Alina entered the throne, accompanied by her female personal escorts. The escorts stopped as soon as they reached the flight of stairs leading to the throne, and Alina ascended them to stand next to her irate husband.

She called, Alex,in a calm voice that caused him to sigh in frustration.

As his claws disappeared, Alina smiled. He withdrew his hand away from his brow and drew her to sit on his lap.

The Luna’s escorts had their heads bowed and were completely unresponsive to the Alpha’s behavior. The Alpha and Luna were never afraid to publicly declare their love for one another.

Alina sighed. I heard you’re in a foul mood,”

And I’m sure you know who made me angry.” Alexander complained, and Alina smiled anguishedly.

What did he do this time?Asked Alina.

Only recently had Nikolai returned to the castle, and already anarchy had

broken out. She smiled. That was her son. Unfortunately.

Alexander gently stroked her cheek. Nobody was as stunning as his wife. He simply adored her for her composed demeanor and courageous personality.

I want you to concentrate on the coronation preparations rather than on our son and that false mate of his.He began and Alina held his wrist, her eyes widening.

Don’t act irrationally, Alex; it will cost us our son.Alexander slowly nodded as she regarded him with concern.

Alina stood up from his lap and descended the stairs. He observed as she walked past her guards and how they calmly and respectfully followed her out of the throne room.

Danil had informed Alexander of Nikolai and Ophelia’s invasion of the storage tower and their execution of every warrior manning the tower. His fists were clinched as he pondered if the golden dragon was leading his son astray or the contrary. Nikolai, having a dragon as his mate, particularly the sole princess of Fireria who was a wellknown, formidable assassin, was not going to happen. Not when Alexander was still living.

His scarlet eyes deepened. Through a mind link, he said, Viktor come.

Three seconds passed.

Viktor arrived in front of the throne in an instant, bowing his head to his Alpha and uncle.

You called, sire?He inquired subtly.

I want you to keep an eye on Nikolai and that demon,” Alexander gave a firm order.

Viktor raised his head and grinned gleefully. I thought you’d never ask,

Alexander nodded. Avoid being killed by him as well, and report any type

of misbehavior.

Viktor smiled. Yes, Alpha.

Since witnessing Nikolai confidently declare throughout the ball that Ophelia was his, he had been anticipating this command. There was something going on, but he could only act covertly because his family had a close link and Alexander would find out what he was doing. Now that he was ordered, he was free.

Respectfully bowing his head, Viktor exited the throne room. He soon lost himself in thought, entering the hallway that led to the stairs of the

sleeping chambers of the various wings.

Why did Nikolai murder those warriors? He undoubtedly desired something from the tower. The only Novikov who did not have authorization to enter sacred and significant locations in Celestia was

Nikolai.

A lot has already occurred. He murmured and sighed feebly.

Suddenly, a recognizable female scream that was laced with panic could be heard.

With his speed, Viktor hurried out of the hallway, up the stairs, and eventually found himself in front of a door, his eyes open in disbelief.

Sasha? He said, reaching for the doorknob.

Silence.

Unsettling stillness.

His eyes became wider. Sasha!

His eyes had changed into their yellow wolflike shape. He kicked the door open to find Nikolai sitting next to the window and gazing at his

hand, which was covered in a thick, dark mist.

Nikolai?Viktor called and entered the space slowly.

As soon as he did, the door behind him clicked shut. Locked. Viktor

sighed.

What are you doing in here?

Nikolai’s lips twitched. I am supposed to ask you that, Viktor,”

I heard Sasha scream.Viktor breathed out.

He hoped his cousin was still alive. Yes, Nikolai was competent to murder his own relative.

Oh?Nikolai arched his eyebrow. That wasn’t intended to happen; I had cast a spell to silence the room and to avoid letting sounds out.

Nikolai, where is Sasha?Viktor asked him slowly in the hopes that he wouldn’t be pushed into a fight.

Behind you.” Nikolai curtly retorted while maintaining attention on his

hand.

Then, behind him, Viktor heard a muffled scream. He cautiously turned around to see Sasha floating above the ground, her back against the wall, a dark mist around her neck. She was crying, struggling, and looked pale

in the face.

Nikolai was using his ability to strangle her.

Nikolai!Indignantly screaming, Viktor shifted his attention to the insane monster who was now staring at him and grinning brightly.

That smile of his almost looked normal. If only it reached his eyes.

What?Nikolai laughed. Who will kill her if not me? You are aware I detest it when others hurt my family.”
