40 Impossible

Astonishment filled the room.

Nikolai shook his head in enjoyment while continually clicking his tongue. He then relaxedly sighed. A sly smile appeared on his lips.

“I won’t kill you two; I just need an apology,” He muttered and grinned, trapping his lips between his teeth.

Viktor sighed. “There will be no apology from me.”

“You need help! That dragon is not your mate!” Sasha yelled while still struggling.

Nikolai gently nodded. His eyes flashed and the mist around her neck vanished. Instantly, she fell to the ground with a loud thud and groaned loudly in pain.

“I hate you Nikolai!”

“Of course you do.” Nikolai mumbled as he made his way back to the chair next to the window.

“This is the second time you’ve told me this,” He continued and he

reclined in the chair.

Viktor helped Sasha to her feet. She sprang up right away, shoving Viktor aside as her eyes changed into a wolf–like emerald color and she snarled fiercely at Nikolai and Viktor.

“I’ll tear you both to pieces!” She shouted.

She was in the middle of a lovely dream when Nikolai broke into her room and attempted to murder her. Even though the day was just getting started, he had thoroughly ruined her desire to sleep all day.

Nikolai turned back to examining his hand, which was shrouded in a gloomy mist. Her blood boiled at that unconcerned look.

“How dare you tell me to apologize to you?! After all you have done!” She snapped.

“No, no, no, pumpkin,” Nikolai teased.

Sasha threw him a pointed look. “You want me to apologize to the dragoness?”

“Hm.” Nikolai nodded like a child who received candy for the first time.

Sasha scoffed. “Hell no!”

The expression on Nikolai’s face grew more sinister. Dark energy began to permeate the space as his hand tightened into a powerful balled fist and the mist surrounding it grew.

Viktor sighed. “You know that unless we apologize, he won’t back down.”

“I am his elder, he must respect me. Plus that dragoness is surely the one I heard mother and Alina speaking…” She paused, her eyes widening.

Viktor raised a brow.

Nikolai looked amused.

“Spill.” He said.

“Never!” Sasha snapped and crossed her arms on her chest.

Nikolai stood up. “Spill.”

“Do it.” Viktor muttered. He didn’t want to start arguments about unimportant issues.

“The Firerian dragon assaulted the castle after you departed to Nexus, claiming to be searching for the royal golden dragon twins Ophelia and

River Vladislav. It turns out that they ran away from home, and those dunderheads accused us of kidnapping.”

“Oh. That. But what did..”

“Let me get to that! Do not interrupt me!” Sasha snapped at Viktor who rolled his eyes and nodded.

“Of course,” he mumbled.

“Anyhow, Alina informed Mother that Ophelia had to be slain in order to get you back and lift your curse.” Sasha carried on.

“Curse?” Viktor raised a brow then scoffed. “I knew it.”

“Funny.” Nikolai laughed like he had heard a joke.

“Honestly, I was shocked when I heard Ophelia attended the ball and when you brought her to breakfast.” Sasha acknowledged as her eyes returned to their original hazel–brown color. “The moon revolves around fate, and based on us, Fate about us is stronger.”

“I reject the idea of fate.” Nikolai scolded.

Sasha groaned. “I know,” she said, lowering her eyes from him.

His fist loosened as he looked away, his gaze drifted to the window. “I require your witchy abilities.”

“My help?” Sasha laughed sarcastically.

Inquisitive, Viktor cast a narrowing glance at Nikolai’s back. “Why do you require her assistance? No one considers you family, Especially after you broke our family’s bond.”

“Abnormal beings are not meant to engage in conversation with normal beings.” Nikolai said shrewdly.

Viktor rolled his eyes. “Ironic.”

“What gives you the idea that I’ll cooperate with whatever evil scheme you’re hatching to obliterate our family?” Crossing her arms over her chest, Sasha questioned.

Nicholas chuckled. “Destruction? I enjoy doing damage!” He spoke in an animated manner, but when he turned to face them again, his

countenance was absolutely somber.

Sasha suppressed a surprised gasp.

Viktor blinked rapidly.

“There are certain things I want to get rid of, but there are other things I

want to uncover. Sasha, you will assist me; I am not asking for your

assistance.”

Sasha brow creased. Nikolai seemed so intent. “What is this about,

Nikolai?”

Nikolai gave a cunning grin. “This family is under a serious threat, and I want to get rid of it.”

“You, Nikolai Novikov, are the threat.” Viktor blurted out without regret.

“Yes.”

“Are you kidding me?” Sasha erupted.

“The moon revolves around fate, and I have been told my entire life that tragedy is the conclusion of my fate. Although I am aware that I cannot stop it from happening, I still want to try.”

“Try?” Sasha questioned in complete shock at Nikolai’s remarks.

“The king of Fireria knew I would be released from captivity before I was even released, and he sent his daughter to kill me, but before she was sent, I met her in a dream. It was more like we were isolated in a

pitch–black cavern.” Nikolai explained in a carefree manner.

Sasha’s eyes widened. “A simultaneous dream?”

“Yes.”

Sasha forced a deep breath, took a wobbly step away, and leaned back against the wall.
