41 Her beautiful mistake?
CRASH!
Ignoring the fact that they were at the castle’s upper floors, Nikolai used his powers to throw Viktor out the window. As Viktor went through the glass and into a thick layer of snow, he screamed in agony.
He coughed out blood. His eyes prickled with tears, quivered and he quickly regretted all he had said. His back was broken now.
Nonchalantly, Nikolai reclined back on the chair next to the violently broken window as Sasha stood motionless in the rear of the chamber with her hands covering her lips.
“So?” Looking at his palm as the dark mist slowly disappeared, Nikolai questioned.
Sasha let out a heavy sigh and dropped her hands in frustration. “I…”
She needed time to process what had just transpired, but as Nikolai glared at her, she sighed in disappointment.
“The goddess‘ power, not mine, is..” She mumbled.
“Not that dummy.” Nikolai smirked.
With anger at his disrespectful statements, Sasha’s eyes shifted back to the wolf–like green shape. “What?!” She let forth a gnashing growl.
“All I ask is that you keep out of my life and the life of my mate.”
“What?!” Sasha exclaimed in utter shock.
Nikolai got to his feet. He resisted laughing when he saw her perplexed face. She was transparent like a book. Did she believe he needed her assistance with anything involving him? All he asked was that she keep

Ophelia out of reach of her poisons and her future plans. He didn’t give a damn about what people thought of his connection with Ophelia.
“Nikolai, I..”
“Those witchy powers of yours should not in any way touch her, forget about the past, and concentrate on what is happening right now.” He gave a firm tone. Nikolai didn’t want to think back on whatever had happened in the past, despite the fact that it couldn’t be ignored. Even though he already had troubles, he didn’t want any more.
Sasha was worried since she was aware of this. The fact that Nikolai, a lycan, was so protective of Ophelia, a dragon, only served to confirm one thing. They were mates. And that frightened her.
Knowing a lot about Nikolai, the most significant thing she understood was that Alexander and Alina were very rigid and protective of him, and that Alina frequently harped on about Nikolai’s unfortunate destiny.
“I shall take my leave now.” Nikolai said while feigning a smile.
“Wait!” Sasha outstretched her arm towards him and he raised a brow
glaring at her arm with disgust.
“I.. um..” She dropped her arm. “Your birthmark…”
Nikolai stopped smiling. “You worrying about me is too late and worthless,
Sasha,”
She stiffened her shoulders. She exhaled, “I know,” and his unnerving smile
returned.
She grinned agonizingly. “I’m glad you’ve found your soul mate.”
Infuriated by her words and actions, Nikolai’s eyes became their thick
demon shape. Before he could lash out at her, he pulled back his words and disappeared.

Sasha sobbed uncontrollably and knelt down. “I’m so sorry Nikolai. I’m
sorry.”
Ophelia remained as sound asleep as a sleeping starfish on the bed at Nikolai’s chambers. The moment her eyelashes began to tremble, indicating that she was awake, the door opened and Rhaziel entered with a crystal glass of water.
As soon as she noticed Rhaziel in the space, her hazel–gray eyes flickered open, and she seated herself right away.
“Would you like a drink of water?” Pointing a glass of water at her face, he questioned.
“Hmm.” She gathered the glass and drank the water all at once. Rhaziel nodded as she gave him the glass back, heaving a sigh of relief.
“You’re really behaving like a butler,” She said to him awkwardly.
The demon sighed, “Unfortunately,” and she gave him a critical look.
“I have no doubt that you are a powerful dem…”
“Rhaziel Petrov, second son of the devil” Rhaziel cut in abruptly and
introduced himself.
Ophelia, who had not at all anticipated that, contrived a fake smile. “Well, that was unexpected, I guess.”
“Really, it is.” Rhaziel gave a nod.
She focused on him for a moment. That explains why his aura was so powerful and dark. She had already encountered other demons, but… Her eyes widened, and she froze in mid–thought.
“Do you have a brother who is also present at this time?” Her eyes blinked

in demand as she posed the question with intense curiosity.
Rhaziel was hesitant and he took a step away. “I do not adore personal questions.” He mumbled.
Ophelia smacked her lips in dismay. “Wherever, suit yourself.” She yawned as she stood up from the bed and extended her arms.
“I’m just curious as to why such a demon like you are would serve that asshole like pet serving his owner,”
Rhaziel’s eyes dilated. She talked without any regard for the
consequences, just like Nikolai, and he was deeply upset by her words.
“I’m just curious as to why an assassin like you would sleep on the bed of the one she’s supposed to kill like a mistress.” He retorted.
Ophelia exhaled and placed her hands on her chest. “Correction! Mate,
not mistress!”
