Amazingly, she didn’t even notice when she fell asleep after receiving the food she asked for right away. The following morning, she awoke to a mouth-watering aroma that welcomed her nostrils. When she opened her eyes to see Nikolai, who was dressed appropriately for the day and holding a sizable tray of hot meals, she was overcome by awe.

le caught Ophelia’s heightened gaze and full mouth. “Hm?” Her eyebrows pricked up in interest.
In a crouching position, Nikolai tugged her nose, leaning in close. “Tonight is my mother’s birthday ball; it will be a happy night full of various forms of entertainment.” He whispered, stroking the tip of her nose.
Observing him, Ophelia glared. She remained silent. Nikolai had a bizarre conception of entertainment. He was inviting her to a ball celebrating the

Luna’s birthday that would be attended by wolves.
She quickly chewed before swallowing her meal. “No.”
“I don’t like the spotlight.”
“There is no spotlight.” Nikolai guffawed.
Ophelia firmly declared, “No Nikolai,” as she sunk her fork into a solitary pie crust. “I won’t mind spending the entire night in the room.”
“Lies.” As he tugged her nose, Nikolai snarled.Ÿ
Ophelia slapped his hand away and let out a loud moan. “Everyone will be preoccupied, and I’ll investigate the moles while you attend to your duties like a good little pawn,” lovingly patting his cheek, she whispered.
Nikolai laughed a little bit. “Little?”
Ophelia smiled and nodded slowly, taking a small slice of pie into her
mouth. “Hmm mmm.”
When their lips were barely an inch apart, Nikolai lifted her head and cocked his head till his finger was curled beneath her chin. “Little?” His voice became huskier and deeper, and those stormy eyes of his turned wild with fierce want, sending chills down the spine.
Ophelia forced herself to swallow until she had nothing left in her mouth. “Wow.. you..” She exhaled, turning her head away, but he quickly brought it
back to him.
She didn’t intend for her eyes to land on his lips. As she saw him slowly bite his lower lip before sensually releasing it, her chest heaved.
“Little?” He repeated his question, brushing her lips with his hot breath as she shifted her eyes to his, which kept her motionless.
“Are you trying to intimidate me?” She questioned, her voice low.

“Do you feel intimidated?”
“No, but I get the impression that you want me to reconsider.”
“I feel challenged, to be honest.”
Ophelia suppressed a smile and her breath. “You’re not little, Nikolai
Novikov.”
“No, no, no, don’t just change your mind like that..” Pausing, he ran his finger up to her lower lip and then along her jawline. “Let me show you that I’m not little,”
Ophelia couldn’t believe he cared that she called him little but not that she called him her pawn. He really was something.
“Didn’t you say that…”
“Night of the wedding?” As her cheeks turned scarlet, Nikolai intervened right away and laughed.
“Oh darling.. my future bride.” She quickly spread her lips to welcome his scorching tongue as he said while tenderly cradling her face and placing his lips on hers.
Ophelia moaned softly and reached out to get a hold of his coat, but as soon as her palm touched his shoulder, he released a heavy breath and pulled away from her lips, holding her chin in place.
“Soon.” She slowly withdrew her arm in astonishment at his ability to affect her as he spoke seductively.
She resumed eating her meal as he leaned away and straightened up. She was deep in contemplation when she suddenly realized he was dressed for the day. She looked up to see him looking at her as if she were his breakfast. Her lips parted, words wanting to escape but she was utterly affected by his gaze. Looking into his eyes, she noticed hunger he was trying to suppress.

She chewed her bottom lip and then switched her attention back to her meal. “Crown Alpha duties?”
“Yes… Will you miss me?”
Ophelia grumbled. “Why would I when you’re going to return?”
With his lips pursed, Nikolai sat down on the chair next to the bed and
ossed one long leg over the other. “Not only wolves are attending the ball d even though you’ might not be the only fire dragon but the only Firerian agon, still.. I’d like a wonderful night with you.”
Dr… You create a commotion like you did throughout the tournament? or murder a person? Without killing someone, it is evident that you cannot endure the night.” Ophelia spoke authoritatively, as if it were a matter of fact. Which it was.
“Goddess! How well do you know me? Ophelia grinned at Nikolai, rolling her eyes as he dramatically gasped, laying his hand on his chest.
“If it becomes monotonous, I must produce spine-chilling reactions. Additionally, I want you to meet my blood dealer and acquaintance.”
“Oh? Who?”
“You’ll know once you meet him. He is an extremely prestigious being who easily gains access to fresh blood.”
As Ophelia took her time to carefully put a slice of pie in her mouth, her smile evaporated and she tilted her head in interest, “Exactly why do you require blood?”
“For obvious reasons, a pure-blooded lycan, such as myself and no one else, who wields demonic abilities, must consume fresh blood.” With pride, Nikolai explained, putting his elbow on the armrest and relaxing his chin on his fist.
Ophelia made a slow nod. “Odd as usual.” She then took the juice and drank

it all at once.
“Indeed.” As he watched her lick her gorgeous lips, Nikolai muttered.
Suddenly the door opened and Rhaziel walked in. Ophelia waved at him happily and he waved back awkwardly as he was taken aback by her action.
Rhaziel shut the door behind him and approached Nikolai, who didn’t even give him a sidelong glance. Ophelia giggled and resumed eating her meal.
“The bane is making a scene.” reported Rhaziel.
