Ophelia’s soft, rosy lips parted, her eyes widened at what he said, and she grabbed a piece of her garment in her fingers. “You’re not dressed.” She breathed quietly as she moved passed him.
She experienced a strange sense-a feeling of utter doubt-for which she had no explanation. Had he maybe selected a bride? Was he teasing her?

he was standing in front of the bed, and Nikolai could only turn to look at er, noticing her sudden distant nature. Her head dipped, and she was lost in meditation. With a divine aura that was flawless in every way, she appeared to be the forbidden fruit she was.
“Are you okay?” He questioned her quietly as he walked towards her, then knelt down in front of her and set the silver heels there.
To see her face, he raised her head. Her eyes widened, and she took an unconscious stride back until she reached the bed, where she collapsed
with a gasp.
It was clear that something bothered her. She immediately turned her head away from Nikolai as he angled his head and stared at her carefully.
The abrupt shift in feelings… What was the issue? Has he said anything
unwise?
He gently raised her clothing, which was concealing those pale, little legs, with his hand.
He delicately put her foot into the silver heels that were the ideal fit, holding her ankle as he did so.
“You are welcome to spend the night in the room if you choose. If there is something you don’t want to do, I won’t make you do it.” She clearly heard a

scream in his voice, despite it being a quiet murmur.
“You have the right to express yourself.” She followed him with her eyes as he put her feet into the second heel and then stood up smiling.
She was unable to discern if he was being sincere or not because he was so attentive and gentle.
She observed that despite the darkness that swirled inside, those crimson eyes of his softened a little. Her heart raced, her chest ached, and she

e blinked. The moment their noses touched and their lips were just an apart, he knelt down and leaned in close. Her breathing trembled, and could hear her heart thumping-though not as loudly and rapidly as his as she usually did when they were close to each other.
He tucked her hair behind her ear and turned his lips to her ear. A deceitful smile suddenly surfaced on his lips. Was she attempting to put herself out of reach? Why was it so abrupt?
Ophelia tightly closed her eyes, held her breath, and clutched her frock as her heartbeat accelerated. She could feel a gentle brush of his lips as his hot
breath kissed her ear.
“Nik…”

“Come on in!”
As soon as the door opened, Sasha entered, looking extremely stunning. She was wearing a multi-layered, off-shoulder icy blue and green dress. Her thin neck was adorned with a twin golden necklace that rhymed with the hairpins she was wearing to style it.
She waved timidly towards Ophelia, who was wearing a fake smile, while holding a brush. “You look gorgeous.”

they left the room together, the corridor was eerily silent as they moved own it. Ophelia looked at Sasha, who was looking rather worrisome, and at that very moment she wished she could read minds.
“Is something not right?” As they started to descend a flight of steps, Ophelia inquired, lifting the borders of her dress just a little.
Sasha noticed Boria

muttered, “Partially” stopping her steps. They were prepared for the event, but they also appeared to be anticipating her and Ophelia.
Ophelia kept moving as her eyes were fixed on the Novikovs at the bottom of the steps. Were they waiting for her?
“Sasha?” She called turning to look at Sasha who seemed to be transfixed with wide eyes. “Come on.”
Sasha glanced at her, blinked, and then nodded before rushing to stand next. to her. Together, they descended the stairs, and when they reached the bottom, she grabbed Ophelia by the arm and pulled her close.
“Huh?” Ophelia gasped in shock before startlingly glancing at Sasha. Sasha was acting odd and was truly anxious! “Are you okay? Do you require anything-water perhaps?”
Slowly shaking her head, Sasha attempted to avert Danil and Boris’s gazes.
“I…”
Boris called in a calm voice, “Ophelia Viadislav.”
Ophelia shifted her attention to him/With a cunningly innocent face, the Novikov had a really royal magnificent appearance.
Ophelia called in his calm voice, “Boris Novikov,”
While Danil stared at her with a rigid expression, Boris grinned.
“I hope we have a dance tonight. You look absolutely magnificent.” Boris continued to speak in a calm manner.
Ophelia’s eyes slightly narrowed. She was an assassin and was aware of when most individuals had ulterior intentions for wanting to harm her, but that did not make her an expert. She never trusted the people in her life, She grinned, thinking of her family, Nikolai, Sasha. There was no exception for Boris and Danil Novikov.

“Thank you, and I can say the same about you.” Her voice also became reassuringly frigid, as did her stare.
Boris grinned and cast a wary glance Sasha’s way before turning to face Ophelia. “I find it surprising that we already know each other.”
“Boris Novikov shouldn’t be surprised,” She grimaced to express her irritation at his forced conversation.
