2 Secrets of the blood pearl (2)

While strolling side by side with his mother, who was looking at him with worry in her eyes, little Nikolai fiddled with his fingers, lost in contemplation. He appeared neat. His basic, yet opulent, outfit poured rega proof, and his long, dark hair was beautifully brushed and braided.

He had just been released from the dungeon for the 20th time in less than two weeks due to his propensity to generate chaos wherever he went./ He subconsciously grinned as he heard voices in his head. He started to hear whispers that were more like chants, and in those whispers, he could make out a clearer voice.

“The dragon king Rodion is visiting today. Give him a scar to remember’

It was Tiana.

‘I.. I don’t want to.’ Nikolai persisted.

‘How about I make you scar your dear mother. After all, she doesn’t care one bit about you.’

Nikolai swallowed and bit down his lower lip.

‘Don’t make me see scary things then.’

‘Deal. Now go on, little one.’

The wolves and the dragons were currently attempting to broker a peace between their respective species. Tiana was vehemently opposed to this, wishing a conflict that would last for ages and ages, and she planned to use Nikolai to make that dream come true.

Seeing how innocent her son looked, Alina couldn’t help but tear up.

“Mama?” With a trembling voice, Nikolai called out abruptly and stopped walking.

Alina sniffed, blinked, and took a deep breath. “Yes?”

“Stop staring.” Nikolai whispered and lifted his gaze to her. His wide eyes sent shivers down her spine.

“You…”

“Do. Not. Stare. At. me.” Nikolai growled, his eyes glowing a dark crimson

Nikolai questioned, appearing a little thrilled before pouting. “Is he ng to punish me? I didn’t mean to..”

He’s not going to punish you.” Alina whispered with a slender smile.

“Starve me then?” Nikolai asked again.

That inquiry surprised Alina, and when he suddenly giggled, she unconsciously withdrew her hand from his head. “Nik you your father…”

“…gives you a headache doesn’t he? Why don’t I kill him for you so that we can live happily ever after?” Nikolai muttered before sprinting off in pursuit of the royal room.

Alina sighed heavily, placing her hand on her chest as she watched Nikolai halt his steps and turn to face her. He waved excitedly at her. “Come

The atmosphere was dense, exposing a sign that a blood bath would take place soon if they weren’t stopped.

“You ought to stop them, brother,” Devin, who was standing next to Alexander, provided advice.

Parting his lips, Alexander groaned and said, “I..”

“Father!” He was stopped when Nikolai yelled out in excitement,

As his son ran joyfully in his direction, oblivious to those around him, Alexander squeezed his mouth shut. The warmth of his son’s innocent, happy smile warmed his heart, and when Nikolai came over and put his hands on his lap, he couldn’t help but sigh.

Instantaneously, the courtroom fell silent. Alexander and young Nikolai were the center of attention.

Alexander’s shocked expression toward his excited-looking son made King Rodion appear somewhat taken aback.

Nikolai’s lips twitched as he felt the looks and slowly turned to look at the dragon king with an eerie and cold expression.

“Is that him?” Nikolai questioned, cocking his head to the side in order to give the dragon king the chills.

“Huh?” Alexander asked.

urned to face Devin. He gave absolutely no indication that he had heard

Nikolai.

“We came here for a truce, not to argue with one another.” Alexander raise

his voice in a forceful manner.

“The Novikovs started this war themselves!” Indignantly, one of the dragon yelled.

“How dare you!” Yakim violently slammed the table, breaking it in two. “You snakes with wings killed my parents!”

Esteban snorted. “Your parents ought not to have ordered an assault on our

castle then,”

“What did you just say?” Yakim snarled like a beast before standing up.

“What do you want to do?” Esteban chuckled before getting up. “No matter how badly we want a truce, there won’t be one.”

Yakim grinned. “You talk as if you’re the villain here,”

“We are all villains, Yakim Novikov.” Esteban whispered and moved his gaze to little Nikolai who was staring at him, pouting his lips. “And that kid is nothing but a curse.”

“Do not cross the line Esteban.” Alexander let out a low growl.

“Come on, now. The schizophrenic alpha heir is well known. Why not begin the fight that is raging within his dark soul by murdering him before he kills you himself, rather than attempting to avert a war that you cannot avoid.” Esteban said with a firm tone and a sly grin.

Nikolai had no trouble branding him an adversary. However, something told that Fotohan had a hand in the conflict between the wolves and the

Viadislav had the most words, and Nikolai maintained nis cyc entire time.

After the meeting, the dragons planned to leave Celestia immediately.

In the throne room, Nikolai was seated on the ground, hugging his father’ leg and Alexander was perched on his throne watching his sleeping son, cuddling his leg.

He was about to summon a maid when Rodion walked into the throne roo with two dragon warriors behind him.

Alexander rose his brow. “To what do I owe this pleasure?”

“Despite the commotion in the courtroom, I’d like to extend an invitation to you to our yearly dragon festival gala. It will be a small step in the direction of our upcoming peace.” Rodion spoke in a somber manner.

Alexander slowly nodded. “You know, we Novikovs protect one another ’til the day we die. Rodion, killing my parents wasn’t a good idea,” He vilely uttered the name of the dragon king, and Rodion grinned.

“We dragons often bite anyone who bites us, including your parents who attacked my family and killed my brothers.” Rodion murmured.

“What if I tell you that I am completely ignorant about that?” Alexander questioned, his crimson eyes blazing.

“I’ll think of what you said as a ridiculous lie.” Rodion laughed. “Nothing else matters to me, Alexander, and I’ll stop at nothing to get the power I desire.”

Alexander guffawed. “You view us as enemies that should be destroyed?”

“Indeed.” Rodion smiled.

“We’ll be at your ball.” Sighing, Alexander leaned back on the velvet cushion of his seat. “It’s absurd to invite me to a ball that won’t take place in a few

years.”

Rodion grinned admiringly. “Very well, then.” His smile vanished as he

turned to leave.

Alexander’s smile also disappeared. He had to befriend his enemy in order

to strike.

‘Kill.’

Nikolai’s eyes suddenly sprang open. Blood red.

His hold on his father’s leg eased, and he stood up, taking slow, deliberate, and lifeless steps down the stairs as if under control.

Alexander was shocked by Nikolai’s abrupt motion but missed seeing his eyes. “Nik!”

Rodion had walked out of the royal room with his men, and Nikolai followed them, completely deaf his father’s call.

“What’s wrong with him?” Alexander questioned with a look of curiosity, but he shrugged it off, assuming Nikolai wanted to go to bed.
