Throughout the entire night, Talon never once left Diana’s side. Not even for a single moment. He sat beside her hospital bed with her hand gently cradled between both of his, his thumb slowly brushing over her knuckles as though the simple touch alone could convince her to wake.
Every so often he would lean forward and press a kiss against her forehead, whispering softly to her.
“My love… I’m still here. You promised me we’d face everything together. So wake up… Please.”
But Diana never stirred. Her breathing remained slow and steady, her face peaceful as if she were simply enjoying a deep sleep.
The Head Healer came and went throughout the night, checking Diana every few hours. Each visit ended with the same reassuring report.
“The Luna is perfectly fine. Her body has simply reached its limit. She needs rest. She will wake when her body has recovered. All we can do is wait.”
Talon had heard those words so many times during the night that he could recite them himself. Yet they brought him very little comfort. Waiting… Waiting was something he hated. He could fight enemies. He could command armies. He could challenge another Alpha to death without hesitation. But sitting beside the woman he loved while being unable to do anything for her… That made him feel helpless.
Fenrir paced endlessly inside their shared mind. The great wolf growled with every passing hour.
“This is Thorne’s fault.”
Talon silently agreed. Curse or not… Everything had started because of Thorne. He was the one who kept attacking Black Howler. He was the one who sent wave after wave of feral rogues. He was the one who tried to murder Diana. The curse only wore one face.
And that face belonged to Thorne.
Fenrir’s growl deepened.
“And the White Witch.”
Talon’s jaw tightened. Ravenna. Diana had welcomed her. Protected her. Trusted her. Even called her a friend.

When Thorne collapsed, Diana’s very first instinct had not been to celebrate their victory. She had comforted Ravenna. Held the White Witch while she cried. Yet what had Ravenna done in
return? She had attacked Diana.
It didn’t matter that she had carefully avoided harming their unborn pups. It didn’t matter that Diana herself had probably allowed it.
As far as Talon was concerned… Ravenna had raised her magic against his mate. That alone was enough. He would never forgive her.
Never.
Morning slowly arrived.
Golden sunlight streamed through the hospital window, chasing away the darkness that had lingered through the night. The hospital remained unusually quiet. Most of the injured warriors had already returned home after receiving treatment. Only the critically wounded
remained.
A gentle knock interrupted the silence.
“Come in.”
The door opened carefully. Beta Enzo stepped inside. He deliberately kept his footsteps light so he wouldn’t disturb Diana. The moment Talon looked at him, he noticed the exhaustion written all over his Beta’s face. Dark circles sat beneath Enzo’s eyes. His uniform was still stained with dried blood. His shoulders sagged from fatigue.
Since the battle ended, Talon had entrusted everything to him. Securing the borders. Organizing patrols. Checking on every family.
Counting the dead. Searching for Thorne. Searching for Ravenna. Making sure Black Howler remained standing.
Enzo had carried all of it without complaint. He bowed respectfully.
“Alpha.”
Talon nodded.
“How is our pack, Beta?”
His voice immediately shifted from that of a worried mate to that of a king.
Enzo straightened.
“The pack is secure, Alpha. Late last night, I allowed the pack members to leave the bunkers

and return to their homes. Our patrols have been doubled. The borders are secure. The healers have finished treating everyone they could. The families of the fallen have already been notified.”
Talon closed his eyes briefly. Another painful duty completed.
“Good.”
A brief silence followed before Talon’s expression hardened again.
“What about Thorne? And Ravenna? Have they been found?”
Enzo’s expression immediately darkened.
“I’m sorry, Alpha. We searched throughout the entire night. Our trackers split into multiple groups. They searched every trail… Every cave… Every abandoned cabin… Every river crossing.”
He slowly shook his head.
“We found nothing. Not even a single scent. They vanished. Completely. It is as if they disappeared from the face of the earth.”
Fenrir snarled.
“Impossible!”
Talon’s golden eyes flashed dangerously.
“What?”
His voice dropped several degrees. Cold. Sharp. Deadly.
Enzo swallowed.
“Our trackers couldn’t find so much as a footprint. No blood. No scent. No traces of magic. It’s as though they simply… ceased to exist.”
The pressure inside the room suddenly exploded. Talon’s Alpha aura flooded every corner of the hospital room. The walls trembled.
Medical instruments rattled. Even Enzo instinctively lowered his head beneath the overwhelming pressure.
“I said…”
Talon’s voice echoed like distant thunder.

“…find them.”
Enzo struggled to breathe beneath the King’s aura.
“We’re still searching, Alpha. No one has stopped. But…”
He couldn’t finish. The pressure became suffocating. Then-
“Talon…”

A weak voice barely louder than a whisper filled the room. Everything stopped. The crushing Alpha aura disappeared instantly.
Fenrir fell completely silent. Talon spun toward the bed so quickly that his chair toppled backward.
Diana’s forest green eyes were slowly opening. She blinked several times, clearly disoriented. Her gaze searched the room until it landed on him.
“Talon…”
she whispered again.
“What happened?”
Her voice remained weak.
“And…”
She frowned slightly.
“Why are you so angry?”
Relief crashed into Talon so powerfully that his knees nearly gave out. Without caring that Enzo was still standing there, he rushed to her bedside and carefully gathered Diana into his arms. He held her as though letting go would cause her to disappear.
“You finally woke up.”
His voice broke.
