A sharp, searing pain tore through Nova's lower abdomen, accompanied by a sickening feeling of heaviness.
Her face deathly pale, she pulled out her phone to dial 911 when a voice laced with absolute zero warmth demanded from behind, "Did you do it on purpose?"
Nova's hand trembled. Drained of all color, she turned to face the man. "I..."
"You ordered this for Yvette two months ago! The Queen's crown alone cost over 30 million! I was wondering why you intentionally crashed into it, but it's just pure jealousy!" Seeing an opening to shift the blame entirely, Yasmin refused to let Nova defend herself, hammering the final nail into the coffin.
She had always hated Nova. She secretly hoped the stress would push her into taking her own life!
Good riddance!
Nova's eyes burned red. Clutching her stomach, she pointed at the ceiling. "There's a security camera right there. Check the footage and see for yourself if I crashed into it!"
Yasmin froze, glancing up. The red light on the camera was blinking steadily, capturing everything.
Just as she opened her mouth to scramble for an excuse, Tristan's voice cut through the air, icy and devoid of patience.
"Wipe the floor clean and pay triple the original price in damages."
Nova froze. She looked up, meeting Tristan's apathetic gaze, and her heart began to tremble.
She had just pointed out the security camera. She had practically handed him the proof of her innocence. And his response?
Tristan didn't care.
He didn't care if she was being framed. He didn't care about the truth.
It was exactly like when Yasmin falsely accused her of costing the company money. He didn't care if she actually did it, nor did he bother investigating. He simply defaulted to blaming her.
How could a person be this heartless?
She was supposedly "pregnant" with his child.
Nova's body went entirely rigid.
Watching him turn to leave, she mustered every last drop of her strength and screamed at him, "I won't take the blame for something I didn't do! If you want to target me, fine! I'll see you in court!"
Overwhelmed by emotion, even her lips were trembling.
The man paused, furrowing his brow as he cast a glance over his shoulder.
But it was just a glance.
He couldn't even be bothered to say a single word to her, let alone argue. He walked away without looking back.
Nova collapsed heavily against the floor. The surrounding waiters, terrified of getting dragged into the mess, scattered instantly.
Even Yasmin practically sprinted away without looking back.
As her consciousness began to fade, Nova's blurred vision caught the inside of the tiara resting closest to her hand. It bore an engraving: For my Beloved ❤.
For my Beloved...
This was Tristan's gift to Yvette. His beloved was Yvette.
And she, Nova, was nothing. She had absolutely nothing...
...
Unable to shake his worry, Samuel hurried back to check on Nova, only to find her collapsed in a pool of filth.
"Nova!"
