Walking Away While Pregnant: Dear Ex-Husband, I Don't Love You Anymore novel Chapter 154

Chapter 154: Chapter 154

Dylan rushed back inside from the corridor. Taking in the chaotic scene, he stepped in immediately, his brow furrowed deep. "Fleur, calm down."

Robin kept thrashing his arms and legs, piercing screams tearing from his throat. "Ahhh—no! No!—"

"Dylan, just let us leave!" Fleur wept hysterically as she held the violently struggling boy. Looking as though she had been driven to the absolute edge, she shrieked in despair:

"Elise cannot tolerate Robin or me! I’m terrified now. Robin is still so small—I don’t want him to suffer unjust treatment because of me! Dylan, I know you love Robin, but he is the only child my late husband and I have. Give him to me! I’ll take him abroad, and we will never disturb your lives again..."

Elise watched Fleur, her brows drawn together tightly.

This caught her entirely off guard. She hadn’t expected Fleur to suddenly pull a theatrical stunt like this. Did the woman actually believe Dylan would let her take Robin away under these circumstances?

No. Fleur’s true motive wasn’t to take the boy away!

Elise’s gaze darted to Robin’s face. The little boy was twisting wildly in Fleur’s vice-like grip, his small face completely bloodless. His lips were even beginning to turn a dangerous shade of purple...

Elise’s breath caught as she suddenly realized what Fleur was trying to do!

She shouted instantly, "Fleur, let go of Robin! Can’t you see the child is suffocating?!"

"Elise!" Dylan barked at her, his voice low and sharp. "Can you stop making things worse?!"

Elise looked at Dylan and let out a cold, mocking laugh. "Dylan, you are utterly blind and deaf. If you truly care about Robin’s well-being, you should tell Fleur to get as far away from him as possible right now!"

Yet, entirely blind to the reality of the situation, Dylan roared right back at her, "Fleur is Robin’s mother! Seeing him like this is killing her too!"

Elise stared fixedly at Dylan for a long beat. In the end, all that escaped her lips was a deeply sarcastic sneer. She pulled her gaze away, turned on her heel, and walked out without looking back.

Watching her retreating figure, Dylan’s hands clenched tight at his sides.

The moment Elise left, Fleur, still holding Robin, swayed unsteadily and collapsed against Dylan’s chest. "Dylan..."

Dylan caught her just in time and deftly pulled Robin from her grasp. "Get some rest."

With that, he pressed the call button. When the nurse arrived, he had her take Fleur away.

After enduring such a violent psychological shock, Robin drifted back into unconsciousness. The attending physician came in to check on him, warning that the child’s mental state was incredibly fragile and that he must not be subjected to the slightest bit of agitation again.

Dylan stared at the unconscious boy on the bed and gave a quiet nod. He then called James into the room.

"Guard Robin. Until I get back, absolutely no one is allowed inside this ward."

James hesitated for a fraction of a second before asking, "Does that include the eldest Madam?"

"Especially her," Dylan said, his voice dropping an octave. "If she shows up, tell her the doctor explicitly stated that Robin cannot see anyone right now."

James nodded. "Understood, sir!"

Elise had just stepped into the elevator when she heard hurried footsteps behind her. Before she could react, a firm grip locked around her wrist. In the next heartbeat, the crisp scent of juniper closed in on her.

Frowning, she struggled hard against the hold.

"Don’t fight me," Dylan said as he stepped into the car, hitting the door-close button. "We need to talk."

"Dylan, listen to me very carefully," Elise said, her eyes ice-cold. "From the moment Fleur returned to the country, she has been the one actively provoking me. It was like that in North City, and it’s still like that now that I’m in Rainport. You’re telling me not to involve myself in her business? She is the one who refuses to leave me alone!"

"Elise, what I mean is... stop having people look into her past."

Elise froze.

"No matter what you’ve uncovered, trust me on this: let it drop." Dylan’s dark eyes were intense, his expression profoundly grave. "Leave the rest to me. I promise you, everything will come to light sooner or later."

Elise knit her brows, studying him intently. What did he mean by that? Could it be that he had long been aware of Fleur’s illicit activities abroad?

"Dylan, are you investigating Fleur too?" She paused, then pressed further. "Or rather... have you already found anything?"

Faced with her blunt interrogation, Dylan’s expression didn’t waver. Yet, within the depths of his dark eyes, a tempest of unreadable emotions seemed to surge and break.

"The only reason I agreed to come up here with you is because my heart breaks for Robin." Elise took a deep breath, looking him straight in the eyes. When she spoke again, her voice had quieted considerably. "You’re right about one thing: the child is entirely innocent. Since Robin calls me his godmother, I cannot just stand by and watch him suffer."

Dylan looked back at her, his gaze heavy. "I am deeply grateful that you care for him."

"My concern for Robin has nothing to do with you. He saved my life, and he is a sweet, sensible boy. To be honest, very few people could dislike a child like him." Elise paused, then added, "Dylan, we were married for five years. I know what you’re capable of. If you found out I was looking into Fleur, it means you’ve been digging into her yourself. For Robin’s sake, don’t you think it’s time you put your cards on the table regarding Fleur?"

The rooftop wind howled around them, the bright autumn sunlight illuminating their faces. In Tancheng, the autumn days remained warm. A few stray strands of hair whipped across Elise’s face, and she reached up to brush them away.

Through the wind, she caught the faint sound of the man letting out a long, heavy sigh.

"Regarding Fleur..."
