Joseph had no idea what happened at Jenton Girls’ School.

One day, the Traditional Medicine Center reached out to Joseph again, requesting his assistance for a surgical procedure.

After reviewing the patient’s case files, Joseph noted that while the operation was complicated, it still fell well within his technical capabilities. So, he agreed to help.

The patient was an elderly man suffering from cardiopulmonary failure. The family had intended to transfer him to Jenton University Hospital to have Walt perform the surgery. However, following the string of scandals that had recently plagued the Jenton University Hospital, the family had grown skeptical.

Inside the consultation room, Joseph asked, “Dr. Geller and Dr. Albright, this marks my third time performing surgery in your hospital. Would the physicians here resent an outsider like me?”

Joseph decided to be humble as he wasn’t officially part of the Traditional Medicine Center. The other doctors might resent how often he was brought in to perform surgeries, since it could easily be interpreted as him taking business away from them.

“Dr. Hart, people might gossip if this were any ordinary operation. But for a procedure of this complexity? They all know exactly where they stand. Who would dare question your presence?” Arthur Geller said. He had always respected Joseph’s medical skills, and seeing his humility only elevated his opinion of the man.

“This surgery was explicitly requested by the patient’s family. We reviewed the case beforehand, and none of us felt confident. Dr. Hart, having you here takes a huge weight off our shoulders. We couldn’t be more grateful,” Benson Albright added.

If Joseph hadn’t agreed to come, the responsibility would have fallen on Benson’s shoulders. With merely a 20 to 30 percent chance of success, it was a near-certain death sentence.

The patient’s family was influential. If they turned angry, Benson could easily lose his position.

So he couldn’t have been more relieved that Joseph was willing to take over this nightmare of a case.

“Let’s get to work then,” Joseph said, wasting no more time. Since he was here to do the surgery, every second counted.

Joseph knew exactly how ugly people could be. He found himself comered, with no clear way out.

Luckily, Joseph had personally examined the patient before the surgery. Even without the scans, he thought that he could save the patient.

Joseph quickly calmed down and thought of a solution. Since he was already trapped inside their game, the only thing left was to play along and counter whatever came at him next.

One thing was for certain. He refused to be ruined here.
