A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 198

Chapter 198

“Misunderstood? I’m not misunderstanding anything! Natalie and the others aren’t even my children. How the hell is that a misunderstanding?

“You were flirting with other men in public, and Grace even got photos of it. And you still call it a misunderstanding?

“Is having multiple phones to make it easier to contact your lovers a misunderstanding as well?”

It was only natural that Joseph didn’t believe Cora’s lame excuses. He did have a way to make Frank speak again, but he wasn’t about to do it just to satisfy Cora’s request of “asking Frank a few questions”.

After Joseph busied himself for a while, a nurse led two people to him-Jerome and Sally.

Jerome was wearing loose casual clothes, so loose they looked almost like pajamas. Sally, on the other hand, was fully made up. Her lips were a vivid red, and her short, wavy hair made her look like an absolute boss babe.

A fitted black dress hugged her figure, and beneath her sheer high-end stockings were long, well-proportioned, and alluring legs. She looked mature and captivating.

Jerome got straight to the point. “Dr. Hart, I’m here for a follow-up. I don’t trust other doctors. I only trust you.’

Joseph had them move to his office. He then reviewed the data before examining Jerome personally. Since he had performed the surgery himself, he naturally had a complete understanding of the situation.

Jerome was well-off and cherished his life now, so he followed the medical advice closely and made a steady recovery.

Once the follow-up was complete, Jerome left with his driver, while Sally stayed behind, claiming she had questions to discuss privately with Joseph.

While Joseph was taking her pulse, Sally used the opportunity to lightly touch the back of his hand with her finger. She even brushed her foot against his leg, clearly flirting with him.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“You know exactly what I’m doing. I only have one intention.”

Sally stared straight into Joseph’s eyes as she pulled out a slip of paper. “This is my address. I usually live alone. If you’re interested, come over. You’re welcome anytime.”

“If you had gone abroad, you really would have missed something.”

Joseph withdrew his hand, rifled through a stack of documents, and handed her a proposal for a new energy project. “This is a great business opportunity. If you miss it, it’ll be gone for good.”

Sally quickly skimmed through it. She had to admit it was a decent project, but she wasn’t interested.

She wasn’t short on money. Whether she gained or lost some, that would just be nothing more than numbers on a page. It wouldn’t bring her happiness.

“You insist on giving me what I don’t need, but won’t give me what I actually want. How boring.”

Sally stood up, returned the proposal to Joseph, and turned to leave. She had only taken a few steps when she turned back again.

“Joseph, let’s be frank. My intentions are very clear. I want to sleep with you. A one-night stand works too. What about you? You’re not pushing me away, but you’re not exactly welcoming it either. So what do you want?”
