Joseph chuckled. “So the trashy finally comes out. That’s right, I’m a pathetic loser. No one in the Lowell family respects me. Cora’s children aren’t mine. They’re someone else’s bastards.”

Joseph looked completely unfazed as he mocked himself.

“You…” Mary stared at him, studying every subtle change in his expression. There was not even a trace of anger, which caught her completely off guard. In the end, she was the one who got frustrated instead.

She had come to obtain permission to visit Frank and, hopefully, extract some information for him. But the moment she saw Joseph, she lost her temper. She had vented out her frustrations, and now there was no taking it back.

Joseph said, “Are you still not leaving? Then let’s ask Cora about it.”

He picked up the office phone and dialed Cora’s number, putting it on speaker. “Cora, your housekeeper just came to tell me that you’d rather have another man’s child than mine. Is there anything else you’d like to add?”

The anger in Cora’s voice was unmistakable. “Honey, you…”

Mary rushed forward in a panic. “Ms. Lowell, I didn’t say that. Mr. Hart is trying to drive a wedge between us. He always does this.”

“Why are you hanging up?” Joseph said, immediately ending the call after that.

Mary glared at him. “Joseph, you’ve framed me again! You’re despicable.”

Joseph couldn’t be bothered to waste his time on Mary. Instead, he pressed the emergency security button.

When the security team arrived, he said, “Keep an eye on her. From now on, unless she’s being wheeled in as a patient, she’s not allowed to set foot in this department.”

The guards immediately escorted Mary away.

Watching through the surveillance monitors, Joseph saw her leave the elevator only to be intercepted almost immediately by one of Cora’s bodyguards and escorted away.

Joseph called Cora again, but Cora spoke first. “Can we please stop turning every conversation into an argument about the children or divorce?”

Joseph asked, “Did you send Mary to the hospital?”

Joseph contacted the hospital, and Marvin answered honestly. The newly completed wing at Jenton General Hospital featured a much larger and more advanced helipad. Jenton University Hospital lacked comparable facilities, meaning any medical aircraft would have to land there instead.

After arriving at Jenton General Hospital, Warren would be transferred straight to Croma.

That was even better. Warren was going to die soon anyway. The further Warren was from Joseph, the better.

Before leaving the ward, Joseph paused and cast a meaningful glance toward the inpatient director.

That afternoon, he received an unexpected call from Natalie. He immediately asked, “Shouldn’t you be studying? Why are you calling me?”

Natalie went straight to the point. “Is that ugly freak Warren really not my father?”

Joseph shrugged. “Who knows? According to the DNA test, you aren’t mine. But your mother insists you are. Now, the latest test says Warren isn’t your father either. Following her logic, he should be.

“But one thing’s certain. Warren and Cora are very close. They’re close enough to go to a hot spring resort together and spend the night there. As for whether anything else happened, you can figure that out yourself.”
