Joseph didn’t bother arguing with Cora. The more he thought about it, the more convinced he was that her children carried the Zahn family’s bloodline. So, it came as no surprise that she was defending them.

More importantly, he already knew who had poisoned the students and teachers. Yet, instead of suspecting the Zahn family, she insisted on pointing the finger elsewhere.

After finishing the IV drip, Joseph took a short break. Then, another batch of poisoned students was transferred to the hospital. So, he left to treat them.

When he finally returned to his office, he found a stranger waiting for him. The man was middle-aged. He was bald in the middle and wore glasses. He was dressed in a suit, looking refined.

Joseph asked, “Who are you? How did you get into my office?”

“Dr. Hart, calm down. I’m Tyler Howard, the Towne family’s butler. I’ve come to ask you to save someone’s life. As long as you can save them, money isn’t a problem. If you have any other requests, the Towne family will do everything within our power to fulfill them,” said Tyler, holding out a gold business card.

Joseph didn’t take the card. Instead, he responded, “Do you want me to go to the Traditional Medicine Center to treat Maurice? I’m sorry, but I’ve already told you my reasons.

“The Towne and Zahn families are too close. The Zahn family and I aren’t on friendly terms. I’m not getting involved in that mess. You can go back the way you came.”

Tyler said, “Dr. Hart, this is the Towne family. If you save one member, we’ll owe you a favor. Do you know how many people dream of earning that?”

Tyler was surprised. He didn’t expect Joseph to refuse. He had been working for the Towne family for years, and this was the first time someone had rejected an offer.

“What other people dream about doesn’t mean I dream about it too. The Towne family has doctors. You don’t need me,” responded Joseph. He was dialing a number to call security.

Tyler quickly stopped Joseph and stated, “It isn’t Mr. Towne Senior this time. It’s Mia Towne.”

Then, Tyler pulled out a medical report. It was issued by the Traditional Medicine Center. The symptoms were identical to those of the recent poisoning cases.

Mia Towne? Jonas’ daughter? Instead of bringing her to Jenton University Hospital, they sent her to Traditional Medicine Center, and the doctors there failed to save her.

Joseph was surprised. Kenneth’s poison wasn’t potent. Following Joseph’s treatment plan, the patients could all be saved.

If Joseph personally performed acupuncture treatment, recovery would be even faster. Other hospitals should still have been able to stabilize the victims, though perhaps a bit more slowly.

Of course, individual patients sometimes had underlying medical conditions that complicated treatment. However, every poisoned patient who had been transferred to Jenton University Hospital had survived under Joseph’s care.

Mia was healthy. She shouldn’t have had any preexisting illnesses, so why was her condition so much worse?

Joseph was confused, but he had no intention of going to the Traditional Medicine Center. Setting aside his ongoing rivalry with Jenna, Joseph also suspected that Jonas had a close partnership with Cora.

Joseph didn’t trust Cora or Jonas. Joseph replied, “I’ve already said it once. I’m not going to Traditional Medicine Center. Go back and tell Jonas that if he’s really the one calling the shots, transfer Mia to Jenton University Hospital. Nonetheless, I know he doesn’t trust me enough to do that.”

Without giving Tyler another chance to speak, Joseph had Tyler escorted out of the office. Not long afterward, Natalie asked to see Joseph.

Joseph went over to Natalie’s ward and asked, “Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”

Natalie had completely regained consciousness. Her opinion of Joseph’s profession had changed. In the past, she thought that doctors didn’t make enough money and lacked powerful connections. They lived dull, ordinary lives. The profession seemed unimpressive.

She just looked down on him. But that day, she had been poisoned and was on the verge of death. He had saved not only her life, but also the lives of her teachers and schoolmates. She couldn’t help but admire him.

Natalie began, “Dad, Cora asked me to pass along a message. She wants me to convince you to save my schoolmate, Mia.”

Joseph responded, “That’s none of your concern. Focus on recovering.”
