A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 370

Chapter 370

Joseph didn’t expect much in return from the Snow family. After returning home, he went over the foundation’s files again, hoping to find evidence of its illegal operations and use it to bring the entire Zahn family down.

In the end, he had either overestimated himself or underestimated his opponents. Anyone capable of running the foundation and helping line the Zahns’ pockets was clearly no ordinary person.

Cora herself was a formidable woman, so the man she had set her sights on couldn’t be average either. After all, she was willing to have his children.

No matter who the man was, Joseph was going to make him pay.

Whenever he dwelled on it, he was consumed by hatred.

Since things were quiet at the clinic, he decided to stay back and study medical texts in his office instead. /

Before dawn, Joseph awoke from a nightmare and sat bolt upright, shaking. All he could remember was a gruesome, bloody scene-like a vision of hell-but the details remained a blur.

After that, he was too restless to fall asleep and stayed awake until morning.

The last time he had felt this way was right before his parents passed away. It was the inexplicable bond between family, a connection that seemed to transcend life and death.

But Joseph no longer had any family left. How could this be happening again?

When dawn broke, Joseph called Helen and subtly probed for information. He learned the Lowells were fine, indicating that Cora, Natalie, Selena, and Kimberly were all safe.

While he was still trying to make sense of his dread, he received a call from Mavis in Croma. It was from her personal number, and she had devastating news.

In the early hours of the morning, Grace had been in a car accident and died on the spot. 1

Joseph felt a sharp buzzing in his head. He never imagined that something so terrible could happen to Grace. His voice trembled. “How… What happened?”

“She… She was driving drunk.”

“Drunk driving? I find that hard to believe. She’s not the kind of person who would ever do that.”

“Joseph, I know how you feel about her, but I hope you can find the strength to get through this. I saw her as my own daughter, and now I have to lay her to rest. This is just as painful for me.”

“Can I go to Croma to see her one last time?”

“Joseph, please. What reason do you even have to see her now? You’ll only invite gossip and make people speak ill of her. Let it go.”

Left with no choice, Joseph ended the call. He reached out to a trusted contact-the family member of a former patient who worked in the legal system- and asked to run some inquiries.

After that, he rushed over to Grace’s residence in Jenton. Even though there was no portrait of her inside, her personal belongings were still scattered around the place.

Seeing Grace’s things brought her rushing back to his mind, and a sharp pain pierced his heart. He could hardly bring himself to believe this was reality.

He sat on the couch in the living room, staring into space. All he could think about were the moments they had shared.

He and Grace didn’t share the deep, lasting history of childhood sweethearts. Their connection had begun with that one fateful encounter when he cured her of the poison.

At that time, he couldn’t say exactly how much he loved her, but she later showed him unwavering support. She made him feel that there were still people in this world worthy of his trust.

But in a single night, Joseph had lost Grace forever. He simply couldn’t accept it.

At noon, his legal contact called back, confirming that the victim was indeed Grace, and that the official report cited drunk driving.

After ending the call, he felt as if all his strength had been drained. He collapsed onto the couch, overwhelmed by grief, and finally let the tears fall.

At a certain sanatorium, Zachary was taking a walk after his meal. Beside him was a beautiful young woman, attentive to his every need. She was his mistress-someone no one knew about.

But the peace didn’t last long. He received word that Yasmin was about to arrive at the sanatorium, forcing him to quickly send his mistress away. Just as he finished tidying the room and spraying air freshener to cover her scent, he heard hurried footsteps outside.

Yasmin, his petite and beautiful wife, had arrived.
