Once Joseph was back in his office, he asked Peyton, “What happened?”

“Yara had some capable fighters by her side. I underestimated her. If I had sent a few more people, I could’ve captured her.”

Peyton dared not look Joseph in the eye. A failure was a failure. The more excuses she gave, the more incompetent she seemed.

“We’ve already tipped her off. It won’t be so easy to capture her next time.” Joseph sighed inwardly. By now, Yara had probably already left Jenton.

“Joseph, what is it about Yara that draws you to her?”

“Nothing specific. I just have a gut feeling that she has the answers to something I want to know. I can’t really explain it. I just want to bring her in so I can ask her myself.”

Joseph was now suspicious of everyone in the Zahn family, especially those who were close to Cora. He would never let any of them off. The fact that Yara had used a fraudulent alias just to embed herself within Nonagon Chemical proved she was running a dark agenda.

But the Zahns were extremely mysterious. Joseph was in no position to get close to them. Right now, he could only seek help from outsiders.

“I’ll have her captured next time,” Peyton promised.

She left some people behind to take care of her subordinates. Once they were in stable condition, she would have them transferred back to Venley.

At the same time, Peyton would use this opportunity to bring more of her best people into Jenton.

Right around noon, Joseph received a call from Jenna. “Come over to the Traditional Medicine Center. You started this mess, so you handle it.”

Joseph let out a chuckle. “What does that even mean? Can’t you just get to the point?”

“If you don’t sign this by 5:00 pm, I’ll have you transferred out of the Traditional Medicine Center. You can go wherever you want―Jenton University Hospital, Jenton General Hospital, the Women and Children’s Hospital, or even Joseph’s clinic.”

Jenna left the documents behind and turned to walk out of the room. Still, she instructed her assistant to keep any eye on the couple.

Jonas knew how serious his condition was. His body wasn’t responding to treatment, and he also knew if he delayed the surgery any longer, he might just die. He looked at Shirley, searching her eyes for an answer.

“You can’t agree to this surgery! If you lose that part of you, what am I going to do?” Shirley asked.

Jonas was at a loss for words. He and Shirley remained quiet.

Not long after, Cora opened the door and walked into the room. She picked up the document and signed Jonas’ name herself, saying, “You need to have this surgery. Otherwise, you’ll die!”

Shirley scoffed. “You’re the one who signed the consent form. Since Jonas is officially no longer going to be a real man, get your husband to satisfy me instead!”
