“You hate me? Do you think I don’t hate you?” Joseph thought. He still couldn’t move on from Cora’s betrayal. The fact that none of the three children were his was enough to keep him from ever finding peace.

After all three children were moved into their wards, Joseph wasn’t allowed to enter freely to visit them. So, he wandered through the hospital.

Suddenly, someone called out from behind him. He turned around and saw that it was Shirley. She said, “Joseph; I asked you to come to the hospital before. Why didn’t you? The surgery is already over, so why are you here?”

Shirley looked at Joseph with a trace of resentment. Her words sounded like a complaint, but her tone was coquettish.

Jonas’ pride had been utterly shattered. If he could avoid seeing people, he did. His spirits had sunk to rock bottom. Aside from opening his eyes when it was time to eat, he spent every day with them closed, either genuinely asleep or pretending to be.

At this time, Jonas was starting to feel hungry. He assumed Shirley had brought him food. When he opened his eyes, the first person he saw was Joseph.
