Joseph said, “I’m not arguing with you. I’m having a civil conversation with you and drinking tea. We’ve already argued enough. The reality is that arguing doesn’t solve anything. There are things you refuse to admit, and there are things I refuse to compromise on. Let’s see how it all plays out.”

Cora asked, “What happened to you? It has only been a few days, but you’ve changed so much. Who did you meet for the past few days? Did someone fill your head with all this?”

“As expected, you still think I’m the one with the problem. Our views are completely different. We can’t discuss at all. Go home and take care of your children,” stated Joseph.

“I want you to go home with me,” responded Cora.

Joseph was taken aback. “Go home with you? Aren’t you afraid that I’ll make your family members’ condition even worse? Maybe I’ll even make your parents faint.

“In that way, you would be too busy taking care of your family to keep involving yourself with other men. If I were to go back now, you would be inviting the wolf into the henhouse.”

Cora was rendered speechless. Joseph continued, “Without principles and conscience, getting things done becomes much easier, right? Cora, I’m not your enemy. Don’t force me into becoming one. Don’t put yourself in my line of fire.”

With that, Joseph left Cora to herself and walked over to pick up a book to read. She had come with hope, yet she left with disappointment. Unwilling to give up, she went to Traditional Medicine Center to find Jenna.

When Cora entered the office and saw Jenna alone, she asked directly, “What has my husband been doing these past few days?”

Jenna was confused. “What do you mean? Why are you asking me what your husband has been doing?”

Cora answered, “While he was gone, he told me that if anything urgent happened, I could find him through you. That means you know what he was doing. He’s back now, but he seems different. Something must have happened during those days. I want you to tell me where he was.”

“I can’t believe he caused me trouble again…” Jenna cursed at Joseph. She couldn’t admit that he had been staying at her place. If that got out, her reputation would be ruined, and the Zahn family would target her.

Cora knew that Joseph spent a lot of time on medical forums, so she had no reason to doubt Jenna. She asked a few more questions, trying to fish for useful information. However, she failed to get anything useful. So, she left.

Just as she had her hand on the doorknob and was about to open the door, she turned around and asked, “Why does Joe contact you, and why are you helping him?”

Jenna replied, “I’m not a threat to him. He already defeated me. I’m not a match for him. Besides, I lost the duel. A bet is a bet. I owe him, so I have to repay that debt.”

Cora asked, “How?”

Jenna answered, “It depends on what he asks for. As long as it’s reasonable, I’ll help. If he needs certain medications, supplies, information related to a patient’s treatment, or others, I can provide them. If he asks for something unreasonable or something beyond my authority, I’ll refuse.”
