Cora explained, “Joe, don’t be mad. Hear me out first. You’re a doctor. Every life you save is another accomplishment. It’s something you can take pride in because you fulfilled your duty.
“Besides, I’m making money for both of us. We can only have a good life if I earn money. Think about it. If neither of us had money, would we be living well? There’s a reason people say poverty puts strain on any marriage.”
Seeing that Joseph was mad, Cora quickly calmed him down. However, he was no longer the man he had once been. He didn’t believe a single word she said.
Joseph wouldn’t save Yara. He wouldn’t abandon uncovering his daughters’ biological father, or Cora’s lover. Being deceived over and over again was unforgivable.
Joseph quickly regained his composure and said flatly, “Transfer five billion dollars into my company’s account”
Cora asked, “Five billion dollars? Why?”
Joseph replied, “Aren’t you the one who said you’re making money for both of us? Some of it belongs to me. I need the money right now. Five billion dollars.”
Cora questioned, “Why do you need the money?”
Joseph answered, “I want to spend it. I’ll invest it and hire people. Once I have money, I can do whatever I want. Call your finance department. Tell them to start the bank transfer.”
“If you need money, just use my card. If there’s something you want to buy, tell me, and I’ll have someone pay for it,” said Cora.
“Cora, you’re seriously hypocritical. You’ll only use me, but you’ll never actually give me money,” stated Joseph.
“It’s five billion dollars. You can ask others. How many wives would hand their husbands five billion dollars? You can’t expect me to do something no one else would,” responded Cora.
After thinking for a moment, she made another offer. “How about this? If you treat Yara, I can’t give you five billion dollars, but I can give you 500 million dollars.”
Joseph replied, “She’s a member of the Zahn family. If the treatment fails, I’ll be the one taking the blame.
“I may not have a perfect sense of how much 500 million dollars is worth, but cutting your offer tells me that you have no sincerity. You’re fickle and hypocritical. You’re a liar with no conscience. I don’t trust you.”
He added, “If you have money, hire another doctor for her. That reminds me. Your parents once told me that I’m not the only doctor in Jenton or the entire country. Go and find someone else.”
With that, Joseph kicked Cora out of the office. Once he had calmed down, he hung a sign that read, “Do Not Disturb”, on the door before taking a nap.
In the afternoon, Jenna came over. Seeing that Joseph was back in his original appearance, looking handsome and elegant, she found it a bit uncomfortable. She preferred his ugly disguise.
She asked, “Why did you change back? Put the disguise on again and come with me to Traditional Medicine Center.
Making no move to get up, Joseph questioned, “Are you here to ask me to treat Yara too? Do you also think I can cure her? She has ALS. As a doctor yourself, do you think I can conquer such an illness?”
Cora had offered Joseph 500 million dollars to treat Yara, which meant that Cora could gain a lot by saving Yara.

Now that Jenna had come as well, it meant that Yara’s condition had worsened, and the Zahn family was getting anxious.
Yara held an important position within the Zahn family. The rumors that she was competing to become the next head of the family clearly weren’t baseless.
Jenna asked, “Didn’t you cure Wesley? He also had ALS. You were confident back then. I don’t believe it was luck. F have a feeling that you’re hiding a lot of extraordinary medical skills.”
Joseph replied, “I can give you the treatment plan Lused on Wesley, but I won’t go over. Doctors are supposed to save lives, but refusing to treat someone isn’t a crime. You can try to guilt-trip me all you want, but I have my own principles.”
While saying that, Joseph opened a folder and printed some documents before handing them over to Jenna.
Jenna read through the treatment plan and found it reasonable. Since Joseph handed it over so easily, it seemed almost too good to be true.
