A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 465

Chapter 465

After spending a few more days at the monastery, Joseph returned to Jenton. There was no avoiding the things that had to be taken care of.

His first stop was the Snow residence to check on Richard. Richard’s condition had stabilized, and the treatment for the Snow family’s hereditary disease was progressing well.

Unless something unexpected happened, Joseph wouldn’t need to come in person anymore.

Wesley also came in for another session with Joseph, mostly for acupuncture.

While performing the treatment, Joseph said to Wesley and Peyton, “Once this round of treatment is finished, you’ll move into the recovery and maintenance phase.

“Just stick to my instructions, and you’ll make a full recovery. You’ll be able to live a totally normal life after that.”

Delighted beyond words, Wesley immediately offered his sincere thanks.

Once Wesley had drifted off to sleep from the treatment, Joseph made sure the nurses had things under control before heading back to his office.

Peyton followed him in for a cup of coffee. She then asked bluntly, “Joseph, as you know, Yara has been following the treatment plan you used on my dad. So why hasn’t it worked for her?”

“Every patient’s condition is different, so you can’t just copy and paste a treatment plan. Besides, I treated your father personally, whereas Yara is being treated by others.

“My understanding of certain illnesses and how to treat them is bound to differ from theirs.”

Joseph took a drag of his cigarette. After a sip of his cup of coffee, he asked, “So what’s in it for you guys anyway? Why are you going out of your way to help Yara?”

“I don’t really get anything out of it. All the benefits go to someone else.”

“Oh? And who might that be? Cora? Belinda? Who else is there?”

“Your wife, Cora, of course. Lowell Group has a partnership with the conglomerate backing Yara. If Yara is cured because of you, she’ll owe Cora a huge favor, and she’ll have to do something in return. So, isn’t Cora the real winner here?”

“Wow, you sure are a good person,” Joseph remarked with a smirk.

Being called a good person somehow made Peyton feel like she was being mocked by Joseph, but she couldn’t exactly lose her temper.

“You’re saying I misunderstood?”

“Yes, that’s right.”

“Then I guess I really did.”

Joseph didn’t bother arguing any further. If they weren’t on the same team, then it was best to cast her aside.

After Wesley’s treatment was finished, Joseph saw them out. As Wesley was leaving, he asked about his next follow-up appointment.

“You’ve recovered. There’s no need for a follow-up,” Joseph stated.

“Joseph, if my dad has any issues down the line, we’ll just come back here to see you,” Peyton said.

“Well, this clinic probably won’t be here anymore buil
