Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 118

He had spent the entire night biting and sucking her skin.

It wasn't just on her neck—the marks traveled all the way down her shoulders and chest.

But since he had completely forgotten, there was no point in dragging the truth into the light.

If she did, how were they even supposed to look at each other moving forward?

Ivy constantly reminded herself that this was a critical time, and she couldn't afford any slip-ups.

She could not risk losing her paycheck.

Gemma was still waiting for her to pay those medical bills.

Seeing how stubbornly defensive she was acting, Alaric couldn't be bothered to push it.

He looked back down at his food and stated flatly,

"If you're in pain, go see a doctor yourself. You work at a hospital, after all."

Ivy immediately nodded. "Okay, I will. Thank you for worrying about me, Mr. Foster."

Alaric bristled at her constant, overly polite tone.

She acted like he wasn't her husband at all.

Instead, she treated him like a strict boss she was trying to appease.

Deeply annoyed, Alaric picked at his food for a few more minutes before abandoning it and heading upstairs.

He couldn't shake the feeling that last night had felt entirely too real to be a dream.

Plus, he had woken up fully dressed in his pajamas.

Who exactly had put those on him?

Back in his room, Alaric pulled out his phone and called his assistant.

The moment Leo picked up, Alaric leaned back against the sofa in his private study and demanded,

"How did I get home last night?"

Leo didn't miss a beat. "You had a few too many drinks with Preston and the guys, so I drove you back."

"And did you change my clothes?"

Alaric felt like the entire sequence of events wasn't adding up.

He had an incredibly high tolerance and had never once drank himself into a blackout.

Yet his memories of last night were entirely fractured.

On the other end of the line, Leo quickly clarified, "No, Sir. I just dropped you off at the driveway. I watched your wife help you inside, and then I left."

Alaric fell dead silent.

Hearing her admit she had changed him didn't make him feel repulsed in the slightest.

In fact, it felt completely natural.

After all, they were married.

Sleeping together was the most normal thing in the world.

Alaric secretly hoped she would lay out exactly what had happened, in excruciating detail.

If he had truly crossed a line, he was fully prepared to step up and handle the consequences.

But Ivy remained glued to the floor, staring at her shoes.

Hearing his question, she knew perfectly well that if she confessed, he could easily flip the script. He could claim he was blackout drunk and accuse her of intentionally throwing herself at him to trap him.

If he didn't even remember doing it, why would she hand him the ammunition to destroy her?

As long as she denied it, they could keep playing house, and she would keep getting paid to watch Stella.

If she told the truth and he turned it against her, using it as an excuse to force a divorce and kick her out,

she would walk away with absolutely nothing.

Having made her choice, Ivy took a deep breath, lifted her chin to meet his piercing gaze, and lied without blinking.

"No. You had way too much to drink. After I got your pajamas on, you passed out cold. Nothing happened."
