Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 121

After getting confirmation from Dr. Elena Sinclair, Alaric Foster was even more certain that he and Ivy Sawyer had indeed slept together the night before.

A sudden wave of self-blame and guilt washed over him.

He couldn't understand why he had gotten so drunk that he had no memory of what happened afterward.

In the past, he had never lost control like that.

But since Ivy refused to admit it, he couldn't push the issue, fearing it would only remind her of the unpleasantness of last night and cause her further emotional distress.

"Alaric, if you can't find whoever it is, I can help you look," Elena offered.

Seeing his handsome face clouded with worry as he sat in prolonged silence, she spoke up again to grab his attention.

Alaric finally looked at her, his demeanor freezing over.

"That won't be necessary. You're dismissed."

"But..."

"Dr. Sinclair, please remember your place. You are simply a doctor I hired. Don't overstep your boundaries."

Alaric had no patience left. Seeing her push her luck, he completely dropped any pretense of politeness.

Elena froze, utterly shocked by his coldness.

They had known each other for five years.

She had practically been at his beck and call, always greeting him with warmth and care.

Did this man truly not understand her feelings?

Why was he being so distant?

Was it because there was someone new in the house drawing all of his attention?

Convinced that Ivy was the reason for his sudden change in attitude, jealousy flared within her.

Elena turned and left. By the time she walked downstairs and approached Ivy, her expression had morphed back into a mask of perfect friendliness.

"Ivy, let's exchange numbers. That way, if anything comes up with Stella, you can text me directly."

Seeing the doctor's enthusiasm, Ivy couldn't refuse. She pulled out her phone and added her contact.

Hearing those words, a deep warmth blossomed in Ivy's chest.

She wrapped her arms around the little girl. Terrified that Elena might discover her true relationship with Alaric, she quickly explained.

"Please don't misunderstand. Stella is still young and doesn't fully grasp things. Mr. Foster said to just play along for now until she gets a bit older."

"I'll still call you Mommy when I grow up! You're my mommy for life!"

Stella chimed in again, throwing her little arms around Ivy's neck and nuzzling affectionately against her.

Ivy adored the child just as much.

She was sweet and soft, a comforting weight in her arms.

She didn't push Stella away, holding her close with all the tender adoration of a real mother.

Watching their intimate bond, a fresh wave of bitter resentment washed over Elena.

She had been around Stella since the girl was an infant.

Yet in all five years, Stella had never been this affectionate with her, but was now practically inseparable from someone she had only known for a few months.
