Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 26

When she delivered the lunch to his room, Ivy made it very clear to him.

"I'm going to be extremely busy from now on, so I won't have time to bring you food anymore. You should hire a caregiver to look after you."

His family was so wealthy; hiring a caregiver shouldn't be difficult at all.

It was actually quite strange.

This man had been in the hospital for a while now.

Aside from Alaric visiting him, none of his other family members had ever shown up.

Ivy was genuinely curious about what kind of family he and Alaric came from.

Ethan leaned against the headboard, staring at her, and said without any hesitation:

"Can I just hire you? Whatever you want to charge, I'm willing to pay."

Ivy immediately refused. "I don't have time for that kind of work. Go find someone else."

Realizing this man truly had those kinds of intentions toward her, and remembering Mr. Foster's warning, Ivy quickly turned and left.

Left alone in the room, Ethan didn't seem disappointed in the slightest; instead, he just curled his lips into a smile.

Ivy returned to the nurse's station and pleaded earnestly with a colleague to swap patients with her.

But her colleague simply replied, "Oh, Ethan Foster? I wouldn't dare take him on. He explicitly said before that he doesn't want anyone but you."

The colleague patted her shoulder sympathetically and consoled her.

"Ivy, just hang in there a little longer. Once he recovers and is discharged, you'll be free."

Out of options, Ivy had to accept her fate.

After getting off work at four, she received another call from Hazel.

Hazel said their parents were already on their way to her university, and they might drag her away by tomorrow.

On the phone, Hazel was crying so hard her voice was shaking.

Ivy couldn't bear it. Since tomorrow was the weekend anyway, she said without thinking:

"Hazel, why don't you come to my place to hide for a couple of days? If they can't find you, they'll naturally go back home."

Hazel sobbed and asked, "Can I really?"

Alaric sat there, waiting to hear what she had to say.

Ivy felt uncomfortable under his gaze and quickly lowered her head, speaking timidly.

"Mr. Foster, you work so hard every day. I made some Calming Herbal Tea for you. It'll help you get a good night's sleep."

Alaric was running low on patience. "Just spit it out."

Ivy pursed her lips, took a deep breath, and said:

"It's like this. My sister is taking the high-speed rail to come see me in the middle of the night. I have to go to the station to pick her up, so I probably won't be able to come back and stay with Stella for these two nights over the weekend."

Alaric kept staring at her, processing her words.

Did this girl mean she wanted him to let her bring her sister to stay here?

He absolutely despised strangers invading his territory.

Alaric was certainly not compassionate enough to let her bring someone home.

He simply agreed aloud. "Mm, go ahead."
