Refusing to take no for an answer, Patrick aggressively blocked her path again. "I broke up with Summer! I never even liked her in the first place. She's a narcissistic, controlling psycho! Ivy, I know I messed up last time, but I'm so sorry."
He reached for her hand again, a smug, overly confident gleam in his eyes. "Look, I brought the cash. We can go home and get married right now, okay?"
Ivy recoiled in disgust, violently slapping his hand away as she stumbled backward to create distance. "Patrick, we are broken up. Can you please just have a shred of dignity and leave before I literally throw up?"
She honestly couldn't comprehend how he had the sheer audacity to hunt her down and demand marriage. When her sister's life was on the line, she had practically begged him for a loan, giving him every possible chance to be the man she thought he was. He had coldly rejected her, right after cheating on her for months behind her back.
Ivy felt physically suffocated just breathing the same air as this pathetic excuse for a man. She side-stepped him and power-walked away.
"Ivy, wait!" Patrick lunged forward to grab her shoulder. But a strong hand suddenly shot out of nowhere, locking around his wrist in a vice-like grip.
"Patrick, considering you're supposed to be dating my cousin, I highly suggest you learn some boundaries. Otherwise, things are going to get incredibly ugly for you."
It was Ethan. He shoved his way aggressively between the two of them, completely blocking Patrick's view of Ivy.
Ivy gasped, whirling around in shock. Ethan? What kind of cruel joke was the universe playing on her? She had just come here to quietly meet her husband so they could go to a preschool event, and somehow she was currently trapped between her psychotic ex and her husband's obsessive nephew.
Refusing to engage with either of them, Ivy turned on her heel and speed-walked toward the corner of the building. Patrick panicked as she walked away. Summer's venomous warning that Ethan was obsessed with Ivy instantly echoed in his mind. Now, seeing this arrogant rich kid physically guarding her, a wave of territorial rage consumed him.
Seething with jealousy, Patrick lunged forward, grabbed Ethan by the collar of his designer shirt, and violently slammed his fist into his jaw.
Meanwhile, inside a luxurious black sedan just fifty feet down the block, Alaric witnessed the entire chaotic spectacle.
He had just pulled out of the executive parking garage to pick up Ivy for the preschool event, only to find his supposedly innocent young wife caught in a dramatic, physical confrontation between two furious men.
Alaric ordered his assistant to pull the car aggressively up to the curb. He rolled down the tinted window, his stunning face carved from ice, radiating a terrifyingly lethal aura.
His deep voice boomed across the sidewalk with absolute, bone-chilling authority. "Ethan Foster. If you have a death wish, I will personally arrange your trip to the crematorium."
All three of them froze, their heads whipping toward the source of the lethal threat. Seeing the undisputed billionaire kingpin sitting in the back of his Bentley, they were all instantly paralyzed with shock.
