Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 61

Alaric Foster never expected that his wife could not only cook and dance, but also sing.

On top of that, she was a registered nurse.

Just how many hidden talents was she keeping under wraps?

It certainly made him look at her in a new light.

It was a shame that someone so gifted had a mind completely consumed by money.

Here he was, an incredibly successful and wealthy man standing right beside her, yet she remained entirely unmoved, showing absolutely no desire for him.

Or perhaps, she was simply playing hard to get.

She just knew how to bide her time.

Alaric really wanted to see just how long Ivy Sawyer could keep up this act.

Of course, he was well aware of his own motives; he only wanted his wife in his bed to satisfy his physical needs.

Aside from that raw desire, he would never give this woman a shred of genuine affection or emotion.

The melodious singing continued to drift upstairs, and Alaric had to admit it was incredibly pleasing to the ear.

Instead of heading to his study, he lingered in the open tearoom on the second floor, overlooking the living area.

Unaware that Alaric was sitting in the shadows above, Ivy sang without holding back, letting her beautiful voice fill the space.

Stella was completely mesmerized.

Even Mrs. Gable watched with wide-eyed surprise and admiration.

As the song ended, Stella clapped her little hands enthusiastically.

"Wow, Mommy, your singing is so amazing! Better than the pop stars on TV! You have to teach me, I want to sing it at St. Jude's Preschool."

Ivy gently pulled the little girl close and smiled.

"Okay, I'll teach you."

She patiently guided Stella through the song, line by line.

Stella learned with serious dedication.

Even later that night, as she lay in bed, the little girl was still happily humming the melody Ivy had taught her.

The next day.

Ivy returned to The Starlight Estate after dropping Stella off at preschool.

She noticed several workers carrying large items into the house.

Confused, she walked over to Mrs. Gable and asked:

"Mrs. Gable, what are they setting up?"

"Ivy, I didn't expect to actually run into you here."

Summer Vance stared at Ivy in shock, then glanced at the child holding her hand, a malicious smile spreading across her face.

"Well, this certainly saves me a hunt."

Ivy's expression instantly darkened. She scooped Stella up, holding the little girl protectively against her chest.

"What do you want?"

Stella recognized the woman immediately and glared at her, shouting angrily:

"You're a bad person! Don't block our way, or I'll make my daddy chop you into pieces."

Summer eyed the child critically before turning her gaze back to Ivy.

"Don't tell me you actually snagged some rich old man and became a stepmother?"

Before Ivy could even open her mouth to reply, Stella immediately shot back:

"My daddy isn't an old man! He's young and super handsome! And you're not allowed to talk to my mommy like that!"

Hearing the child's defense, Summer burst into a fit of mocking laughter.

"So you really did marry an old man to play stepmother! Hahaha, and Patrick Sterling is still out there thinking about getting back together with you. I bet he has no idea you're already playing house as a mom."
