With Juniper out for the last few days, Jade had finally felt a sense of peace. But now, this walking disaster was back.
She felt like she was suffocating in the studio. She didn't even know why she hated Juniper so intensely anymore; just seeing her face made her physically nauseous.
Watching her coworkers shamelessly fawn over Juniper only deepened her disgust.
And that Zoe woman was an absolute bitch for coming in and putting on that little show.
Jade's fists clenched until her knuckles turned white. She had to do something, or the resentment was going to eat her alive.
The rest of the team was practically vibrating with excitement as they gathered around the pile of jewelry. The four appraisers were tapping away on their calculators so fast their fingers were practically smoking.
"This is an unheated purple sapphire. Shame about the inclusion in the center, but the carat weight is solid. Let's list it at forty-eight thousand; it's a guaranteed sale."
"This emerald is top-tier, just a little thin on the cut. If it were a fraction thicker, it would easily fetch seven figures. For now, we cap it at two hundred grand."
Juniper sat nearby. The fever reducer had kicked in, leaving her with a comforting sense of calm.
With this massive inventory drop, the studio could survive for a very long time.
She began sifting through the pieces alongside the appraisers, eventually separating out about twenty of the most aggressively priced items.
"I have a strategy. Do you guys want to hear it?"
"June, we'll listen to anything you say. From now on, you're the boss. If this studio blows up, you're the CEO. Your word is law."
