Mr. Stafford was practically shouting over the line. A group of thugs had just barged into the factory, claiming The Quinn Group owed them money. Before anyone could stop them, they had taken sledgehammers to two of their main machines.

Those machines were the lifeblood of the factory. Over half of their current orders required them. If they couldn't be fixed in time, SD Apparel would breach multiple contracts, effectively bankrupting the business just as it was getting off the ground.

Stella forced herself to swallow her rising panic. "Are they still there? Have you called the police?"

"The police are already here taking photos for evidence. The thugs smashed the machines and ran," Mr. Stafford said, his voice trembling with stress. "The cops will definitely catch them, but that's just a fine and a few days in jail. Right now, I don't even know if these machines can be salvaged, and we are on a strict deadline!"

Stella's brow furrowed sharply. Her instincts screamed that this wasn't some random debt dispute. Someone had orchestrated this hit.
