Jarrod's face darkened instantly.

He studied her for a long moment before asking, "Do you have a problem with Yvette staying here?"

Stella let out a soft, hollow laugh. "The Sterling Residences belongs to you. Whether I have a problem with it is entirely irrelevant."

Jarrod's jaw tightened. "If you're saying all this out of pure spite because she's here, you can stop."

"Yvette is incredibly proud. She never asks for help unless she's truly desperate. I was the one who insisted she stay here."

His tone shifted, tinged with a defensive need to explain himself. "She is the daughter of someone I respect deeply. Given what she's going through, there is no universe where I just abandon her."

Stella nodded, unfazed. "I know. I heard about her situation from Silas when she visited the main estate last time."

Not to mention Serena Fuller sprinting to the hospital specifically to give her the dramatic rundown.

"I never asked you to abandon her. But I refuse to let her presence disrupt the boundaries we've already set."

Stella looked him dead in the eye. "I sympathize with her situation, and I respect your decision to help her. In return, I expect you to respect my boundaries."

Jarrod's eyes grew stormy, but he didn't push the argument. He simply extended his injured arm and ordered her to change his dressing.

Stella didn't argue. She pulled out the first aid kit and carefully removed the old bandages.

Having done it the night before, her movements were swift and highly efficient. The second she was done, she packed the supplies away and turned to leave.

Jarrod frowned deeply. He quickly told her he would be the one sleeping in the guest room tonight.

"All your things are in the master bedroom. It's more convenient for you to stay here."

Stella didn't put up a fight. The only reason she had offered him the master bedroom in the first place was so he could rest properly. Since he was volunteering to leave, she wasn't going to stop him.
