The pain made Stella gasp.
Felix immediately pressed her back against the bed.
“Don’t move. Your leg is injured.”
Stella froze.
Injured?
Then she remembered.
During the chaos that day, someone had shot her.
The only people present had belonged to Felix, Aaron, or Evan.
No matter how she looked at it, the shooter had come from one of those three sides.
Stella pressed her lips together and stared at Felix.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” he asked.
“My left shoulder hurts too.”
“That was injured as well.”
Stella fell silent.
So she had suffered more than a single gunshot wound that day.
No wonder she had lost consciousness.
Everything had happened so suddenly that she had barely registered the pain before blacking out.
“Drink some water first.”
Felix had taken careful care of her over the past three days, so even though she had been unconscious, her lips were not dry or cracked.
Stella continued watching him without moving.
“It’s warm water,” Felix coaxed. “Come on. You need to drink something after waking up.”
As he spoke, he pressed the call button beside the bed to summon the doctor.
She had only just regained consciousness and needed a thorough examination.
Stella finally opened her mouth and drank a little.
She was desperately thirsty.
She had not eaten or drunk anything for three days, and now that she was awake, her stomach felt painfully empty.
The doctors arrived quickly and began examining her.
By the time they finished, half an hour had passed.
They said she could eat, but only something light.
After everyone left, Jack brought in a bowl of oatmeal porridge.
It appeared to have been freshly made, soft and smooth.
Felix picked up the spoon, tested the temperature, then held a spoonful to Stella’s lips.
“I can do it myself.”
“Your arm and leg both hurt. Stop fighting me.”
