It was all because of her.
Thinking back to the chaos that day, Yara could still see Stella collapsing right in front of them while they were forced to leave her behind.
Now they had no idea where Stella had been taken.
Evan rubbed his aching temples.
“Stay out of this.”
“You still don’t know who took Stella?”
Yara knew what had been happening.
Over the past three days, Evan had not only been investigating where Stella had been taken, but also who had taken her.
When Yara learned that both Aaron’s and Felix’s people were searching everywhere for Stella, she had been stunned too.
Only those three factions had been present that day.
Unless someone else had been there.
But if so, who had taken Stella?
Could it have been one of their enemies?
That had to be it.
Otherwise, who would have shot Stella?
Felix’s people would never have done it.
Neither would Aaron’s or Evan’s.
Evan had reached the same conclusion, and the possibility was driving him out of his mind.
“What if Stella fell into the hands of one of your enemies?” Yara began crying again.
“Enough!”
For the past three days, Evan had suspected the same thing.
If Stella really had been taken by one of their enemies, he did not dare imagine what might have happened to her.
As Amos had said, they did not even know whether she was still alive.
Evan could not let himself think any further.
The possibility that Stella’s life was hanging in the balance was too suffocating to bear.
“No matter what, we have to find her as soon as possible,” Yara said. “We have to bring her back.”
The situation had already left her unable to eat or sleep.
If anything else happened to Stella because of her, Yara did not think she could live with herself.
