Felix fell silent.
Stella was right.
Before Evan turned out to be alive and took her to Seaborne, Felix and Aaron had been working together when it came to her.
But after learning Evan was still alive and had taken Stella away, something inside Felix changed.
Suddenly, none of those plans mattered anymore.
He no longer wanted anything he and Aaron had been working toward.
He only wanted Stella safe and by his side.
Nothing else mattered.
“I’m sorry,” Felix said quietly.
“I never meant to hurt you, but clearly, everything I did caused you pain.”
The moment Stella’s trust in him collapsed had been unbearable.
She no longer believed in him.
And after everything he had done with Aaron during that time, he had given her no reason to.
Stella froze briefly at his sudden apology.
Then she laughed.
“You men are all the same.”
They were always quick to apologize.
But who knew what excuse they would find next to sacrifice her again?
Stella had once planned to come to Sima Mountain after escaping them.
But now Felix knew about this place too.
It seemed this town could no longer be her final destination.
She had only mentioned it to Evan once.
Evan had forgotten, but Felix had remembered.
And so many years had passed since then.
Yet Felix still remembered.
…
Felix had taken Stella away in secret.
The scene at Desert Ridge had descended into chaos, and he had used the confusion to get her out.
They had switched routes and vehicles repeatedly along the way, using every form of transportation available.
Evan and Aaron were both searching for them like mad.
Especially Evan.
Stella had been injured right before his eyes.
After returning to Seaborne with Yara, he had become almost frantic, desperately searching for any trace of Stella.
