My CEO HUSBAND sign the divorce novel Chapter 323

Chapter 323: Willingly

Sebastian folded his hands neatly on the table.

"I won’t take much of your time, Officer."

"I’ve only come to ask for one favor."

"A favor?"

The officer frowned.

"Regarding my daughter’s case."

The officer immediately sighed.

"I’m sorry, Mr. Newton, but if you’re here to ask us to release your daughter, that’s beyond my authority."

Sebastian calmly shook his head.

"No."

"I know exactly what my daughter has done."

"I’m not asking you to interfere with the investigation."

He paused before continuing.

"I’m only asking that the investigation remain as confidential as possible."

"Rumors have already begun circulating."

"I’d rather prevent any further information from spreading before the investigation concludes."

The officer nodded thoughtfully.

"That has always been our policy."

"We’re already limiting the release of information."

"Unfortunately, we can’t control rumors that have already spread outside the station."

"I understand."

Sebastian gave a small nod.

"I’ll handle those myself."

"I only ask that nothing further leaves this station."

"We’ll continue handling the case professionally," the officer assured him.

"You have my word."

A faint smile finally appeared on Sebastian’s face.

"Thank you, Officer."

He stood and extended his hand.

The officer shook it.

"It’s our duty."

Sebastian turned and walked toward the door.

Just before he stepped outside, the officer called after him.

"Mr. Newton."

He stopped but didn’t turn around.

"Would you like to see your daughter before you leave?"

For a long moment...

Sebastian remained silent.

Then, without looking back, he answered coldly,

"She brought this upon herself."

"Let her bear the consequences."

Without another glance, he walked away.

The officer stood quietly in the doorway, watching him disappear down the corridor.

After everything that had happened...

He didn’t expect Sebastian to only care about his reputation or to completely abandon his daughter, yet here he was refusing to even see her.

The lawyer Mrs. Newton had arranged had just arrived at the police station.

Karen was escorted out of her holding cell so they could discuss her case privately.

At that same moment, Sebastian stepped out of the officer’s office, ready to leave.

The instant Karen saw him, relief flooded her face.

"Dad!"

She called excitedly, taking an instinctive step forward before the officer beside her stopped her.

"Dad, I’m here!"

"Where are you going?"

"You came to take me home, didn’t you?"

Hearing her voice, Sebastian’s footsteps slowed.

After a brief pause, he turned around.

The moment their eyes met, something inside him wavered.

For the first time since her arrest, he truly looked at his daughter.

She barely resembled the elegant young woman everyone knew.

Her once silky blonde hair hung in tangled strands around her face.

Dark circles shadowed her swollen eyes, evidence of countless sleepless nights.

Her cheeks had become noticeably thinner, and the expensive confidence she once carried had long disappeared.

She looked exhausted.

Broken.

"Dad..."

Her voice trembled this time.

Seeing him stop gave her hope.

She struggled against the officer’s grip.

"Dad, tell them to let me go!"

"I’m innocent!"

"Please!"

Sebastian slowly walked toward her.

Hope immediately lit up Karen’s face.

"See?" she snapped at the female officer.

"I told you my father would come!"

"Let me go!"

The officer remained unmoved, her grip never loosening.

Sebastian stopped only a few steps away.

For several long seconds...

He simply looked at his daughter.

His fingers curled tightly at his sides.

For the briefest moment, guilt threatened to overcome him.

She was still his daughter.

No matter what she had done...

She was still his daughter.

But just as quickly...

The businessman defeated the father.

His expression turned cold once again.

"You brought this upon yourself, Karen."

His voice was calm.

Almost emotionless.

Karen froze.

"...Dad?"

He stepped back.

My heart skipped.

Before I could finish the thought, the convoy slowly came to a stop.

I looked up.

It wasn’t the Blackwood family cemetery.

It was the cemetery where my parents were buried.

Before I could even react, Alexander had already stepped out of the car and walked around to my side.

He opened the door before carefully lifting Aimy into his arms.

Then he offered me his hand.

"I thought we were visiting the Blackwood cemetery first."

My voice trembled as tears gathered in my eyes.

He smiled gently.

"This cemetery was closer."

"I thought we’d come here first."

Unable to stop myself, I nodded.

"Thank you."

I reached out toward Aimy.

"I’ll carry her."

Alexander looked at me in confusion.

"What are you doing?"

"I’m taking Aimy to see my parents."

He smiled softly.

"I know."

"But why are you taking her?"

I stared at him.

"...You’re coming with us?"

He nodded without the slightest hesitation.

"Isn’t that why we’re here?"

For a moment...

I couldn’t move.

Alexander had never willingly come here with me before.

Back then, I had always wanted him to.

I never dared ask directly because I was afraid he’d refuse.

Instead, I’d only dropped little hints whenever I wanted to visit.

He had never taken them.

"Alicia?"

His worried voice pulled me back.

He gently squeezed my hand.

I looked into his eyes.

For the briefest moment...

A trace of regret flashed across them before disappearing again.

He was about to say something.

I simply shook my head and started walking.

There was no need.

No matter how many years passed...

I would never forget the way to my parents’ graves.

A few moments later, we arrived.

Alexander remained beside me, carrying Aimy so she could see everything.....
