My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 139

The two of them walked out of the hotel to find the driver already waiting, respectfully holding open the rear door of the car.

Lucian let Seraphina get in first before walking around to slide in from the other side.

The car started smoothly.

The interior was quiet.

Little Bean grew active again, tumbling around in her stomach, completely buzzing with excitement.

"Mom! Dad looked incredibly handsome today! That hair-tucking move was straight out of a rom-com!"

Seraphina thought to herself, "Stop watching rom-coms."

"How can I watch rom-coms when I'm in your tummy? This is just my flawless natural taste!" Little Bean argued righteously.

Seraphina couldn't stop her lips from curving upward.

Catching her smile out of the corner of his eye, Lucian stared for a moment.

Right then, his phone rang.

The caller ID displayed three words: Grandma Eleanor.

Lucian answered the call, but before he could even speak, Eleanor Langford's booming voice came through the speaker.

"Lucian, when are you and Sera coming to visit me? This old woman is about to forget what her granddaughter-in-law even looks like!"

Lucian replied, "I've been busy lately. In a couple of days..."

"Busy, busy, busy, that's all you know." Eleanor cut him off, clearly annoyed. "Is your work more important than your wife? Let me tell you right now, if you dare mess around with other women and do anything to hurt Sera, I'll be the first to tear you apart!"

Lucian was speechless.

Her imagination was running completely wild.

Seraphina heard every word clearly from where she sat, the tips of her ears growing warm.

Eleanor's voice was so loud it could probably be heard from three miles away even through the phone.

"Grandma, I'm not," Lucian replied, his tone laced with helplessness.

"Good. Bring Sera back for dinner this weekend, I'll have the chef prepare a full spread. Do you hear me?"

"...I hear you."

"Take good care of her. She looked a little thin the last time she was here. Are you starving her?"

Lucian turned his head and shot Seraphina a look.

She left her hair down, cascading over her shoulders with loose curls at the ends, making her look incredibly gentle and poised.

Little Bean was highly satisfied. "Mom looks like a true socialite today!"

"I already am one," Seraphina laughed softly.

"That's true. Mom has always been a stunning beauty," Little Bean declared proudly.

Seraphina smiled and made her way downstairs.

Lucian was already waiting in the living room.

He was wearing casual clothes today, which stripped away some of his usual sharp edge and gave him a more relaxed vibe.

Seeing Seraphina, Lucian paused for a second before saying, "Let's go."

The car headed north of the city, eventually pulling up in front of a sprawling traditional courtyard estate.

As soon as Seraphina stepped out, she heard Eleanor's hearty laughter echoing from inside.

The butler hurried out to greet them with a beaming smile. "Sir, Madam. The old lady has been talking about you all morning. She's finally got her wish."

Seraphina nodded politely and followed Lucian inside.
