The Simmons Estate.
After hanging up, Samuel sat in his study for a long time.
His face was a mask of sheer fury.
He finally stood up and walked out of the room.
Stepping up to Sienna's bedroom door, he knocked.
"Sienna, it's me."
The door swung open almost immediately.
Sienna's face carried a look of anticipation.
"Dad, how did it go? What did Seraphina say?"
Samuel's tone was flat. "She said no."
Sienna's expression froze. "She said no? How did you ask her?"
"I told her you wanted to shadow her. She said she doesn't teach or take on apprentices, and told you to find a training course or hire a tutor."
Sienna fell silent for a few seconds. "It's okay, Dad. I'll figure something else out."
Samuel gave a curt nod and turned back toward the master bedroom.
Closing her door, the sweet smile on Sienna's face slowly vanished.
The route through Samuel was a dead end. She had to rely on herself.
Biting her lip, she grabbed her phone and scrolled through her contacts.
As she scrolled, her finger suddenly paused.
A name glowed on the screen: Lucas Zimmer.
She remembered him.
He was Seraphina's senior from college. Because of some past incident, Lucas owed her a massive favor.
And because of that same incident, he had harbored a secret crush on her for years.
Even though he never said it, she could tell.
Lucas had no money and no status; naturally, she had always looked down on him.
Lucas's voice changed drastically. "Seraphina? How did she hurt you?"
Sienna sniffled. "When I was pregnant, she came over for dinner. When no one was looking, she spiked my soup... and I lost the baby."
Her voice dropped even lower. "Later, she went around spreading rumors that I had faked the pregnancy. Now everyone in our social circle is laughing at me. I don't even dare to leave the house."
"After suffering all this injustice, I just wanted to learn about her patent to better myself. But she... she said I was unworthy."
Lucas fell silent for a long time.
It took a while before his voice finally came through again. "Sienna, is everything you just said true?"
"Lucas, I would never lie to you."
Her tone was incredibly earnest. "When your mother was sick, who was the one that paid for her surgery? I've been so good to you, why would I ever deceive you?"
Lucas's voice spiked with outrage.
"How dare she?!"
He could barely contain his anger. "Sienna, you've been treated terribly."
His breathing grew heavy. "All these years abroad, I've never forgotten how you saved me."
