My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 23

"Tiff, it's true," Seraphina said calmly.

Tiffany still found it impossible to believe. "Sera, tell me you didn't just do this to get back at Sebastian. It's not worth gambling your entire future over a jerk like him."

Even though Lucian was the city's most eligible bachelor.

Tiffany knew her best friend well; she wasn't a gold digger.

She was terrified that Seraphina had acted on impulse and made an irrational decision.

Besides, the waters ran dangerously deep in the Langford family. Tiffany didn't want to see her best friend drown in that kind of high-society drama.

Seraphina let out a helpless laugh. "Tiff, do you really think I'm still that same love-struck fool?"

Tiffany froze.

"Before yesterday, maybe I was. But I'm wide awake now."

The other end of the line was dead quiet for a few seconds.

"Sera..." Tiffany murmured, her heart aching for her friend.

"I'm fine." Seraphina's lips curved upward. "Honestly, I should be thanking them. If they hadn't pulled this stunt, I probably would have kept being an idiot, handing my patents over to Sebastian for free while watching him play house with Sienna."

"Speaking of patents!" Tiffany's voice suddenly spiked in volume. "Your patent licensing agreement expires in two months, right? What are you going to do?"

"I'm not renewing it," Seraphina said flatly. "Sixty percent of The Sullivan Group's business relies entirely on that government project. Without my patent, that project is dead in the water."

"Hell yes!" Tiffany cheered. "That's exactly what you need to do! Let him see what it means to lose everything he worked for!"

Suddenly, Tiffany's tone shifted, becoming laced with worry. "But I know Sebastian. He cares about his reputation, but he cares about money even more. If you cut off his cash flow, he definitely won't let this go without a fight."

Seraphina replied, "It's fine. I have Lucian."

After all, they had an agreement.

Tiffany fell silent for a moment.

"Sera, you need to keep your guard up in the Langford household too. That kind of billionaire family... it's a snake pit."

"I know. Don't worry, I'll be careful."

Just a day ago, she had been Sebastian's fiancée, exhausted from wedding preparations.

A day later, she was Lucian's wife, living in a multi-million dollar mansion, pregnant with a Langford heir.

Life truly was a rollercoaster.

"Ma'am," Susan poked her head out from the kitchen. "What would you like for dinner? Sir mentioned that since you're expecting, you need to eat more nutritious food."

Seraphina smiled. "Susan, whatever you make is fine. I'm not a picky eater."

"Alright then!" Susan said, beaming as she went back to work. "I'll make you a creamy seafood chowder, some BBQ ribs, and some roasted asparagus..."

Listening to Susan's cheerful chatter, a wave of warmth spread through Seraphina's chest.

She looked down at her still-flat stomach and gently placed a hand over it.

*Baby,* she whispered in her heart. *From now on, we finally have a home.*

Little Bean's voice rang out, overflowing with pure joy. "Mommy, I'm so happy. We're going to be such a happy family."
