Sebastian followed her gaze. Lucian was looking down, speaking softly to Seraphina.
The two of them looked incredibly in love, acting as if no one else in the room existed.
Sebastian's eyes darkened for a fraction of a second. "Yes."
Yolanda didn't ask anything else, but she noticed that Sebastian's gaze lingered on Seraphina for a few seconds.
The feeling was hard to describe, but it looked a lot like longing.
Yolanda felt a twinge of discomfort, though she kept it carefully hidden.
She smiled and tugged at Sebastian's sleeve. "Come on, let me introduce you to some friends. There are quite a few interesting people here today."
Sebastian pulled his eyes away, nodded, and followed her.
On the other side of the room, Lucian handed a glass of water to Seraphina and asked in a low voice, "Are you tired?"
Seraphina shook her head. "No. Did your meetings go well?"
"Yeah," Lucian sat down next to her, his gaze sweeping over the direction Sebastian had vanished in. His tone was casual. "What were you looking at just now?"
Seraphina took a sip of her water. "I saw Sebastian with Yolanda."
Lucian didn't say anything more. He reached out and stroked her hair, his movements natural and intimate. "Don't worry about anyone else. You're a guest today; just relax."
Seraphina's lips curved into a smile, and she murmured, "Okay."
Watching them, Tiffany couldn't help but mutter again, "Here comes the public display of affection."
Seraphina laughed at that and playfully batted Tiffany's arm.
This girl was always teasing her.
Her skin had always been thin when it came to this sort of thing.
But honestly, Seraphina hadn't expected Lucian to be so utterly indifferent to public opinion.
His blatant care for her was truly jaw-dropping for those who knew him.
Sitting in a corner, Melody Monroe's smile nearly slipped off her face.
Her fingers gripped her teacup tightly, a suffocating wave of despair and fury washing over her.
What did Elder Harrison mean by that?
Was he saying that for her benefit?
No, impossible. Elder Harrison couldn't possibly know about her grudge against Seraphina.
But even so, his speech felt like a sharp slap to the face.
They had both brought gifts. She had presented a genuine John Singer Sargent, and Elder Harrison had merely offered a polite compliment, only to turn around and elevate Seraphina to the heavens.
A mere Centuries-old Wild Ginseng Root—was it really worth all this fuss?
Melody took a deep breath, forcing a bright smile back onto her face.
She couldn't lose her composure, especially not at an event like this.
