My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 268

"Hey," Yolanda said, dropping her bag onto the chair and taking a seat across from her sister. "What's with the sudden lunch invite?"

Gillian didn't immediately reply. She ordered their food, waiting until the waiter left before finally speaking.

"Did you have dinner with Sebastian last night?"

Yolanda paused for a second before nodding. "I did."

"Did you have a good time?"

Yolanda fell silent for a moment, then set her water glass down. "Did you hear something?"

"I heard someone crashed your dinner." Gillian kept her tone perfectly even. "Sienna. Sebastian's ex-girlfriend."

"Not an ex-girlfriend. Just an old friend of his," Yolanda corrected, though she didn't sound entirely convinced.

"Yolanda," Gillian sighed heavily. "You've never been good at lying to yourself, you know that?"

Yolanda bit her lip and turned her head to look out the window.

The streets were packed with people, the sun was shining, but there was a suffocating tightness in her chest.

"I'm not lying. Sebastian told me himself. He completely cut ties with Sienna a long time ago. She's the one who won't stop stalking him."

"And you believe that?"

"I..." Yolanda hesitated. "I want to believe it."

Gillian looked at the sheer stubbornness in her sister's eyes and felt her heart ache.

She knew Yolanda too well. She was fiercely independent and headstrong. Once she set her mind on something, absolutely nothing could drag her away from it.

When they were kids, Yolanda had been thrown from a horse seventeen times, her knees covered in overlapping scars, yet she had never shed a single tear.

But now, over some man, her eyes were welling up.

"Yolanda, I'm not trying to forbid you from seeing Sebastian." Gillian softened her voice. "I just need you to really think this through. Are you just caught up in the thrill of the moment, or do you genuinely want to spend the rest of your life with this man?"

Yolanda turned back, her eyes rimmed with red. "I've had feelings for him for years. This isn't just some passing phase."

"Does he know that?"

"What?"

"Does he know you've been in love with him for years?" Gillian asked, her tone dead serious. "Or does he think you two just randomly reconnected after bumping into each other a few weeks ago?"

Her family's empire was exactly the kind of leverage Sebastian desperately needed right now.

And then her mind flashed to the look in Sienna's eyes the night before.

The sheer madness. The unyielding obsession.

If a man had truly severed all ties with his past, why would his ex look at another woman with that kind of murderous desperation?

"I'm not going to force you to make any decisions today. I just want you to be careful. Marriage is for life. Don't let a momentary rush of adrenaline push you into a mistake you'll regret forever," Gillian said softly.

Yolanda stared blankly into her coffee, absentmindedly stirring it before forcing a tight smile.

"I hear you. I'll think about it."

Gillian looked at her sister's forced smile and sighed inwardly.

She knew Yolanda was just saying the words to end the conversation, but in her heart, she was already entirely fixated on Sebastian.

She was exactly like Gillian had been at that age.

She would never give up until she crashed straight into the wall.
