Landon raised an eyebrow.
Dinner at the Monroe estate?
This meant Howard Monroe was officially acknowledging their relationship.
It was happening even faster than he had anticipated.
He typed back with one hand. "Sounds great. I'll definitely be there."
Hitting send, Landon pressed his lips together, his smirk deepening.
Everything was falling perfectly into place.
Over at Paradox, he had given Alistair three days to mull it over.
With the terms he had just laid out, Alistair had absolutely no reason to decline.
As for the Monroes, as long as next week's dinner went smoothly, Howard would become a powerful card up his sleeve.
When that happened, his standing within the Langford family would shift entirely.
A soft, triumphant chuckle escaped Landon's lips.
Lucian, you might have the Langford Group.
But I'll have the Monroes. And I'll have Paradox.
Just wait and see.
......
However, what Landon didn't know was that less than an hour after he left Paradox, Alistair's phone began to ring.
It was an unknown number.
Alistair answered, met with a steady, commanding male voice on the other end.
"Mr. Fletcher. This is Lucian Langford."
Alistair froze in his tracks.
"Mr. Langford? How did you..."
"I hear Landon paid you a visit. And he gave you a higher offer than mine." Lucian's tone was dangerously calm.
Alistair's grip on his phone tightened. "Word travels fast, Mr. Langford."
Landon had barely walked out the door before Lucian made his move.
It was obvious someone had been keeping a very close watch in the shadows.
......
Lyra Bay.
Seraphina had just coaxed Hudson to sleep when Susan brought up a bowl of nourishing soup.
"Drink this while it's hot, Mrs. Langford. It'll help with your recovery."
Seraphina took it and sipped. The broth was rich and incredibly savory—Susan truly was a master in the kitchen.
"Will Mr. Langford be home for dinner tonight?" Susan asked.
"Yes, he said he didn't have any evening meetings and wanted to come home early to spend time with the baby," Seraphina replied between sips.
Susan smiled, nodding as she turned to head downstairs and prep the evening meal.
Finishing the soup, Seraphina set the bowl on her nightstand and picked up her phone to scroll through the news.
The entertainment section was plastered with more updates on Landon and Melody, featuring a fresh batch of paparazzi photos taken from various angles.
The headlines were growing increasingly sensational: "Landon Langford and Melody Monroe Officially an Item? Spotted Together Two Days in a Row—Families Give Their Blessing!"
Seraphina stared at the screen for a moment, an unsettling feeling creeping in.
