Landon fell silent for a few seconds, choosing not to press the issue.
Of course, he wasn't going to blindly trust someone who appeared out of nowhere offering unsolicited goodwill.
But right now, he definitely needed this card.
"I'll take these files back to review." Landon stood up. "We'll talk about a partnership once I've digested the details."
"Take your time." The man leaned back in his chair, his tone relaxed. "I'll be waiting."
Landon turned and left the private room.
After the door clicked shut, the smile slowly vanished from the man's face.
He pulled a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, took a deep drag, and slowly exhaled.
Through the swirling smoke, his gaze turned dark and predatory.
"Lucian Langford..." he murmured the name, his lips twisting into an icy sneer. "The game has just begun."
...
The next morning, the Langford Group's legal team arrived right on time at the Paradox Logic conference room.
The contract terms had been negotiated in advance, leaving little room for back-and-forth.
Alistair reviewed everything meticulously from beginning to end, verifying that every clause matched what Lucian had promised, before signing his name.
The heavy weight in his chest finally lifted.
The Langford Group's capital would be wired in installments over the next two weeks, with the first fifty million dollars arriving tomorrow.
With this funding, Paradox could survive at least a two-year R&D cycle.
But more importantly, the Langford Group's vast distribution channels would now be open to Paradox.
This meant Paradox's tech products could rapidly penetrate the European and Southeast Asian markets, sparing them from having their sales teams knock on doors one by one like before.
"A pleasure doing business with you." Alistair stood up and shook hands with the head of the Langford Group's legal team.
"Likewise, Mr. Fletcher."
The news quickly rippled through their circles.
The Langford Group had acquired Paradox Logic. Although the deal wasn't massive in dollar value, the signal was crystal clear.
"Alright." A trace of a smile carried through Lucian's voice. "I should be home around seven."
He hadn't expected Seraphina to be this happy over a business deal.
Thinking about it, it made everything entirely worth it.
After hanging up, Seraphina picked up Little Bean and spun him around twice.
Little Bean felt dizzy from the spinning, his tiny face scrunching up. "Mommy, aren't you a bit too excited?"
Seraphina stopped and planted a fierce kiss on her son's forehead.
"Baby, your daddy won Paradox! Didn't you say Paradox was super important? We don't have to worry anymore, your daddy won!"
Little Bean blinked, the corners of his mouth tipping up slightly.
His dad was indeed impressive.
But he also knew this was only the first round.
The real battle was yet to come.
