Thaddeus's eyes narrowed slightly. He ignored Marcus's defense, instead casting a scrutinizing look toward the old man. "Are you truly the legendary Azure Healer?"
Meeting Thaddeus's piercing eyes, a sudden chill shot up the old man's spine, but he forced himself to stay calm. "Mr. Miller, are you doubting me?"
"Mr. Miller!" Julian hurried forward, offering a solemn vow. "I will bet my life on it. He is undoubtedly the Azure Healer. I pulled a lot of strings to bring him here, so how could he possibly be a fake?" For this, he had poured over five million into greasing palms. With a cost like that, how could he have ended up with a fraud?
"But from what I've heard, the Azure Healer practices medicine based entirely on his mood, leaving it up to fate," Thaddeus noted, his tone frigid. "If he doesn't want to do it, even the most powerful man in the world wouldn't get a favor."
The sarcasm in his words was heavy—even my Miller family couldn't invite him, so where did someone like you, the young master of the Prescott family, get that kind of face?
Seeing this, Phoebe quickly chimed in. "Mr. Miller, you said yourself that it's all about fate. Perhaps Julian just happened to hit it off with him, which is why the healer made an exception." Having said that, she subtly shot the old man a glance.
"Exactly." The old man smoothly stroked his goatee, acting profound. "Julian has an aristocratic appearance and is an extraordinary individual. I found him agreeable, which is why I reluctantly came out of seclusion."
"Brilliant. Truly a brilliant performance."
Finally, Cyrus stopped watching from the sidelines. He strolled out slowly, a mocking curve on his lips. "Old man, I have to say, you're a good actor. Just for your shameless dedication to the role, I'll give you this." He flashed a thumbs-up.
"Who are you? How dare you spout nonsense here!" The old man instantly flew into a rage from embarrassment, shouting sharply. "I am the Azure Healer. I will not tolerate being slandered by some greenhorn!"
"Phoenix, control your man!" Julian was also furious. "The Azure Healer is an honored guest of the elite. If you offend him, are you trying to drag the Prescott family down with you?"
"Julian, then do you know why the Azure Healer is called the Azure Healer?" Phoenix stood with her arms crossed, asking mockingly.
Julian paused slightly, answering instinctively. "Naturally, it's because he likes to wear azure robes. That's why the world honors him with the title."
Phoenix shook her head, glancing at the old man who was indeed wearing an azure tunic. Clearly, this fraud also misunderstood the name, which was utterly laughable.
"Pfft—"
Cyrus simply couldn't hold back and burst out laughing, his beautiful eyes full of ridicule. "Since when did my title come from my fashion choices?"
"Old man, what makes a healer a master isn't their age or their credentials, but..." With a flash of cold light from his fingertips, several silver needles appeared between Cyrus's fingers. He strode toward the bed. "A world-class set of medical skills."
Before his voice had even faded, his wrist flicked, and the silver needles shot like shooting stars into Gideon's vital acupoints.
"Stop him!"
The old man screamed in horror. "He's going to kill him."
Whether this young man was real or fake, he absolutely could not let him apply the needles. If he actually managed to wake the old man up, wouldn't his own identity as a fraud be instantly exposed?
Marcus was the first to rush forward in an attempt to stop him, but Meredith blocked him fiercely.
"Nobody is going to interrupt Cyrus's treatment," the young woman's gaze was resolute, staring fiercely at everyone present like a small beast protecting its cub.
