The moment Macy spoke, every eye in the room darted toward the main entrance.
A figure stepped into the hall. His steady, unhurried pace carried an undeniable authority that captivated the crowd—and instantly shattered Sebastian's carefully crafted facade.
The man wore an impeccably tailored black suit, his silver hair styled to perfection. The lines on his face spoke of years of experience, exuding a calm sophistication that commanded immediate respect.
Padraig? It was actually the legendary Master Padraig!
Sebastian's breath hitched, panic crashing over him in suffocating waves. He had been so certain that the reclusive master would never attend a commercial event like this. That was the only reason he had dared to claim the title.
But here the man was in the flesh. His mere presence was a brutal slap across Sebastian's face, stripping away his dignity in front of the world.
"Sebastian?" Phoebe gasped in horror. Judging by the ghostly pallor of his face, his grand claims had been absolute lies.
Thinking fast, she made a desperate move and rushed toward Padraig.
"Master Padraig, what a surprise to see you here," Phoebe said, fighting to maintain her composure, though her voice betrayed a frantic tremor. "You should have called Sebastian. We would have sent a private car for you."
"And you are?" Padraig narrowed his eyes, studying the young woman blocking his path.
"I'm Phoebe Prescott. Sebastian is my brother." She lowered her voice to a rapid, desperate whisper. "If you acknowledge him as your student right now, the Prescott family will compensate you handsomely. Name your price—we can afford it."
The calm demeanor in Padraig's eyes instantly turned to ice. "Hah. It seems Ms. Monroe wasn't lying. Someone really did have the audacity to impersonate my student."
"It's a misunderstanding, sir! He admires you so much. It's been his lifelong dream to study under you, and he made a foolish mistake. Please, for the sake of his passion for jewelry design, forgive him this once." Phoebe practically begged, dropping all of her usual pride.
She wouldn't normally stoop so low, but she and Sebastian were tied together now. If he was exposed as a fraud, her own reputation as his "muse" would be destroyed alongside his.
But to Sebastian, her pleading looked like an act of profound loyalty.
His sweet sister was debasing herself in front of a legend just to cover for his lies.
She truly was the best sister in the world. For Phoebe's sake, he had to keep up the charade, no matter the cost.
"Professor!"
